Sometimes It Feels So Good To Be Bad.

The Blonds Runway show was a Disney Dream Come True... Or Nightmare.

Almost every New York Fashion Week The Blonds, Phillipe Blond and creative director David Blond have a themed runway show. This year for their Spring/Summer 2019 collection it is Disney's Villains. I had the pleasure of witnessing many of their runways in person though sadly I couldn't attend this year. One thing I've always admired is their insane attention to detail that you can spot anywhere from the fabrics, hair, and nails. I think they have the best nail designs of all the New York Fashion Week runway shows.

Hello Nubians,

I didn't make it out to New York Fashion Week this season for the first time in a long time, but never fear! We have the interwebs full of fun NYFW photography ;-)

One of the coolest, most unique shows I've been seeing a lot of photos of is Thom Browne Spring 2016. It's like a cross of Japanese school girl uniforms and Alice In Wonderland. Usually, most designers who put together a collection of blazers and skirts run the risk of having it come across as boring, but not Thom Browne. First off, lets talk about the hair ... it was sooooo good. There was also gorgeous boater hats by Stephen Jones. The hats and hair are already immediate eye catchers that make the show as a whole more interesting.

About the clothing ... as I said prior it looked like a Japanese school uniform but the fabric, prints, embroidery, and layering makes all the difference. I love the use of pleats in this collection. There was also a bit of gingham and floral patterns. Some of the items are wearable every day and some maybe not so much. The color scheme was black and gray with a dash of pastels too. I love the balance of the collection however and would absolutely rock some of these pieces in a heartbeat.

Thom Browne is known to put on a show. He put together a one room school house at The Chelsea Gallery. There was also black composition notebooks on each chair. You have to love all the details. Magical and a little dark. Absolutely enjoyable to view.

What do you think about the collection? Do you have a favorite piece?

Cheers!

Hello Nubians,

I wanted to share this outfit I wore sometime during NYFW. One of the girls I was working with got the whole social team cake pops which was really sweet! Who doesn't love a good cake pop? plus quite frankly, they're pretty to look at and I probably spend as much time admiring one as I do eating it.

Anyway, back to the outfit... I wanted something chill and relaxing to wear. I pretty much had an ALL SNEAKER policy this season (except for one day when I wore oxfords) I run around way too much and comfort is key. To make up for not wearing any heels I layered a bit, mixed textures and tried to pay attention to detail as much as possible.

Wearing: Vintage black top, New Era "Quick Draw McGraw" snapback, Free People Navy Blue skirt, Jordan sneakers, Misc leggings from Japan.

Hello Nubians,

This New York Fashion Week was fun and busy! For the last few seasons I've been working with the social team at MADE Fashion Week therefore, I've had all access to the #MADEfw shows at Milk Studios.

I'll be making a few random posts, pulling images from my cellphone of pieces from shows and presentations I enjoyed and was smitten with.

Houghton

I felt like there was a bohemian romance going on at Houghton this season. I was completely intrigued with the oversized strip jacket from the collection. Katharine Polk really nailed it this season making pieces for women who dress for themselves and not for men. From leather to cashmere, to suede, these are pieces you will def want to swim in and absorb all the glam.

I bumped into the young Carrie Bradshaw, Miss AnnaSophia Robb and she was pretty, petite and sweet! I tapped her on the shoulder and she graciously turned around and posed for a photo.

Chromat

Everyone was super excited for Chromat by designer Becca McCharen ... especially after Beyonce got on stage recently looking killer in this designers gear. (Lets face it, all eyes have been on the Beyhive)

The room was jam packed as everyone waited for the runway to begin at The Standard. It was out of this world with intergalactic flair and a clear message saying that the Future and a new style wave is here. There was a lot of structure and architecture used to compliment feminine curves. I like to think of it as Terminator Fashion Forward.

INSANE.

Dion Lee

Dion Lee had a beautiful collection this season. Feminine, sexy and filled with plenty of loose silhouettes. There was a lot of different prints, cut-outs, shapes and shimmer.

If you're wondering were my lair was during New York Fashion Week, Here is is...

THE MEDIA WAR ROOM at Milk Studios for MADE Fashion Week.

My first Fashion Week outfit was Levis jeans, a vintage dress and Nike Airmax sneakers.

Cheers!

Oh, You Fancy, Huh?

I attended the Costello Taglia F/W 13 presentation and it was very pleasing to my eye. I very much enjoyed the rich colors and detailed floral prints I saw making their way down the runway.

I'm a big fan of a sexy V neck and there was plenty of that going around. There was also an equally appealing amount of draping in the variety of the pieces .. When draping is done right as it was in this collection, it adds such class to the item.

Even though the whole collection isn't really my aesthetic in a way where I feel that it caters to the more traditional business woman attire, I would ABSOLUTELY love to have some of these pieces for a dinner date or to add a bit of edge to with some leather or faux fur. I can see myself taking something from this collection and styling it a lot different than seen on the runway.

I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how it is form fitting and enhances the lady figure. I have curves and I adore them! Clothing that shows them off in a graceful manner is always well accepted by me.

Here is a photo I snapped backstage before the show. The makeup on the models mainly focused on the lips as they were neon colored and the rest of the face was very light with a minimal amount of eye liner.

A quick photo I snapped of Angela Simmons before the show. She looked gorgeous.

It's not very often that I see a collection and can honestly say I would wear everything in it...

I attended the Tabitha Simmons F/W 13 presentation during MADE Fashion week and I felt like a kid at a candy shop, I WANTED EVERYTHING!

This British stylist turned shoe designer is truly a master at her craft. The pointy heel made a comeback this year and it seems like it isn't going anywhere. Frankly, I'm happy about it... I enjoy the pointy heel. The collection is most certainly appealing to the eye with eye popping colors, glitter, leopard prints and even holographic prints! So much fun and VERY NubiasNonsense style if I do say so myself, wouldn't mind getting my hands on a pair of shiny pointy toed flats.

The collection is SEXY and very wearable with a pleasant amount of variety. It's not wonder Tabitha Simmons has created such a following... her shoes make the outfit.

There was British Candy at the presentation! What a personal touch.

Which pair of these Tabitha Simmons shoes catches your eye? Have a favorite?

I ran around a lot during NYFW. It was pretty intense. I was working very hard and although I enjoyed watching the garments come to life, I'm glad it's over and I have trends to look forward to for Spring 2012. It's a very bittersweet feeling... Watching it end, as is everything that you love and suddenly comes to a halt.

I wanted to share I few Instagrams I did during some shows and behind the scenes. Enjoy!

There was good times, there was bad times, and now they're all in the past.

What did you love about NYFW? Favorite trends? Shows? Let me know.
