Hello Nubians,

I didn't make it out to New York Fashion Week this season for the first time in a long time, but never fear! We have the interwebs full of fun NYFW photography ;-)

One of the coolest, most unique shows I've been seeing a lot of photos of is Thom Browne Spring 2016. It's like a cross of Japanese school girl uniforms and Alice In Wonderland. Usually, most designers who put together a collection of blazers and skirts run the risk of having it come across as boring, but not Thom Browne. First off, lets talk about the hair ... it was sooooo good. There was also gorgeous boater hats by Stephen Jones. The hats and hair are already immediate eye catchers that make the show as a whole more interesting.

About the clothing ... as I said prior it looked like a Japanese school uniform but the fabric, prints, embroidery, and layering makes all the difference. I love the use of pleats in this collection. There was also a bit of gingham and floral patterns. Some of the items are wearable every day and some maybe not so much. The color scheme was black and gray with a dash of pastels too. I love the balance of the collection however and would absolutely rock some of these pieces in a heartbeat.

Thom Browne is known to put on a show. He put together a one room school house at The Chelsea Gallery. There was also black composition notebooks on each chair. You have to love all the details. Magical and a little dark. Absolutely enjoyable to view.

What do you think about the collection? Do you have a favorite piece?

Cheers!

Hello Nubians,

I love the videos the people make over at Mode, they're all about fashion evolution. This time around, they wanted to show us how much lingerie has changed over the past 100 years. Our underwear is very essential ladies! From our bras to our panties, style and mainly comfort is always something to have. Also, a little sexiness for special occasions too ;-)

I think it's very interesting to see how covered up lingerie was at some point, then is would become very flesh barring, then it would get covered up again. It's also interesting to see the evolution of the silhouette, cup shapes, embroideries, and more. Some of the styles from many years back don't look very different to the ones we have now.

Enjoy!

Cheers!

We'll Go To Very Distant Lands...

My face when I saw the new additions to the WeLoveFine x Adventure Time collection.

You all know Cartoon Networks Adventure Time right? Well if you don't, get with it! It's a super cool, crazy, cartoon that will really get you thinking all sorts of things. The characters all take you on their wild journeys and you learn to appreciate them individually and appreciate them all for different reasons. Surprisingly, this cartoon will teach you A LOT of life lessons.

WeLoveFine has an existing Adventure Time clothing collection already (I own a Peppermint Butler Tulle Dress). Now they're adding a few more items to the collection that are available for pre-order now. I must warn you though, if you love Adventure Time, this will hurt your pockets haha. Really cute stuff !

Take a look at the collection below and if you're interested in pre-ordering anything, head on over HERE.

Hello Nubians & Babetrons,

Being the colorful person that I am, I try to stray away from posting too much black and white photography. However, I couldn't resist with this editorial, it's marvelous. It also made me home sick!

Alisa Ahmann has the modeling game on smash. The poses, the stares, the fierceness, EVERYTHING. I've seen various of the editorials she stars in and she's always so damn good. I love how this editorial for Numéro Magazine takes place in Manhattan rooftops. Makes me miss NYC a bit but I'm visiting next month for a while so yay!

Model: Alisa Ahmann
Photographer: Txema Yeste
Stylist: Elizabeth Sulcer
Hair: Tomihiro Kono
Make-up: Tyron Machhausen
Manicure: Tracylee

There are so many qualities in this editorial that I want to incorporate to my Fall/Winter fashion wardrobe. I am dying to get my hands on some good latex items. I am also planning to bring hardcore use of the blazer back. I can't wait to pull out my pleather and faux fur either. It's like I have all these visions floating around in my head.

Absolutely stunning.

What do you guys think of these looks? Kudos to the photography and crew.

Cheers!

Hello My Beautiful Nubian Queens!

I saw last nights MTV VMA awards and though I have many, many... maybe one too many thoughts about the show... I'm just going to talk about hair for now.

Many of the ladies looked drop dead gorgeous and made good fashion choices with their stunning dresses, gowns, and jump suits... I paid a bit more attention to the hair and makeup this year. My top favorite hairstyles were from Vanessa Hudgens, Rita Ora, Taylor Swift and Britney Spears.

A lot of the reasoning behind why I love these hairstyles is that they are so easy to recreate! Total DIY projects, you really don't have to go to the salon for any of these. I think my favorite one is the braid crown sported by Vanessa Hudgens, total boho vibes (plus I love a good braid). I liked how sleek both Rita Ora and Taylor Swift's hairstyles were. Taylor's looks almost like a pixie cut from the front which is super cute. Lastly, Britney Spears pony-tail was fun and playful.  I liked the colors she had going on with the dye too. Seems like a good day to sport your hair tied back!

Did you have any favorite hairstyles on he red carpet?

Hello Nubians,

“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” ― Dalai Lama XIV

I was roaming the web over the weekend trying to get inspired and I ran into these retro Coca Cola ads. Man these are so cool! I love how their simplicity captures my attention more now than they probably would have a few years ago. They say so much to me. Of course these were simpler times too,  I'm guessing these are mostly from the 1950s-1960s. I would love for these sort of ads to make more of a comeback. I think Coca Cola should recreate these ads with real people and positive influencers. That would be awesome. New, creative minds coming together to recreate the classics which never go out of style.

The hair, makeup, and clothing in these photos is also very inspiring. I love some good ol' 1960s style. The pin curls in some of these look so on point too.

Now that we've clarified how gorgeous these women look,  I'd also like to point out that I enjoy seeing how most of these ads show people sharing a coca cola beverage over some sort of intimate moment. It sends out nice positive message of togetherness.

Enjoy a nice crisp Coca Cola every so often ;-)

Cheers to Coca Cola being around for some many years and always pushing boundaries and being creative!

Do you guys miss these kinds of ads?

C'mon Barbie, Let's Go Party!

Kali Uchis makes Colombian gals like me proud. I actually heard of Kali Uchis at first because I think my brother might be in love with her ha ha, I think she's super cool though.

The singer/songwriter is starring in a new campaign for Barbie by Sophia Webster shoes. Both women and kids can rock the collection, it includes sneakers, sandals and stiletto's. The collection was created to celebrate Barbie wearing flat shoes for the first time!!! Say What? Usually I would oppose to such things because growing up, Barbie was the illusion of a perfect woman for me... ya know... pretty hair, the perfect dresses and wardrobe, cute body with the tinniest almost impossible waist, and always a sick pair of pumps! But throughout the years and thanks to the media, we already have wayyyyy too many close to impossible goals for women. I think it's a breath of fresh air to see Barbie being normalized a bit and be seen more like an every day women in a pair of hightop sneakers. Amen y'all!

These butterfly stilettos give me total 90s nostalgia... I want!

The collection launches in Selfridges London and is online right now at sophiawebster.com. The collaboration is a continuation of the Barbie Fashionista campaign, which celebrates diversity with 23 new dolls, featuring 14 different facial sculpts, 8 skin tones, 18 eye colors, 22 hair styles, and 23 hair colors. I think it's a great message of positivity for the youth, especially young girls to make Barbie seem more approachable. We're living in a world were young teenagers are getting crazy unnecessary surgeries such as lip and butt implants for vanity and to feel beautiful. I know this sounds super corny right now, but beauty comes from within. You have to work with what you have. Having a big ass, tits, and a pair of heels on doesn't automatically make you beautiful. All races and colors are beautiful too! Get with it ladies! It's cool that the Barbie brand wants to celebrate diversity because so many young girls are obsessed with their dolls. Now maybe the dolls will look more like them.

The Barbie x Sophia Webster shoes can range anywhere from $150 to about $500. It is a special collection however, so if this is your kind of thing and you're looking for quality, I think it's worth it.

The designer said: "Creating a shoe collection for Barbie has always been my dream project, but getting to be a part of her embracing flats for the first time made it extra exciting, and deeply personal. I love that this concept strikes a balance between dreams and reality - the idea of getting Barbie in some hi-tops and setting her loose in East London instantly appealed."

Dope bags too!

What do you think of the collection? Think you'll get your hands on any of these items soon?

Make sure to follow Sophia Webster and Kali Uchis on Instagram for more updates and random cool stuff.

Lastly, for your viewing pleasure... Check out the Kali Uchis "Loner" music video.  Take in the cool beat, her soothing voice, and more of her sick, pretty in pink style in the dreamy video.

Cheers my darlings!
