Flash Review: Quick And To The Point.
Slashers are highly beloved in the world of horror. I recently watched Slasher: Solstice, Season 3 on Netflix. Slasher originally debuted on Chiller before it found its new home. If you're into seriously gruesome murder scenes, I'd absolutely give it the time of day. If you're looking for a solid story... it's not the worst. Read my flash review below and find out why.

The new year is a great time to reflect on your life and the company you keep. After binge-watching Netflix's YOU, which initially aired on Lifetime based on the novel written by Caroline Kepnes, I was reminded of how much harm you can cause yourself and your mental health specifically by having a toxic best friend or friends in general. 2019 needs to be about loving ourselves, and that has a lot to do with the company we keep.

I Was SO Moved When '13 Reasons Why' First Premiered On Netflix.

I previously knew about the '13 Reasons Why' novel written in 2007 by Jay Asher and then, I heard Selena Gomez was involved with turning it into a show for Netflix. I am so excited Season 2 has a premiere date.

Hey Nubians,

You shouldn't have to cover your tattoos... but sometimes you do.

I tried out the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation and I have to say I'm very pleased. It sucks that sometimes people find themselves in situations where they have to cover their tattoos, but that's life.I don't often get impressed with beauty products and well, I'm impressed. Kudos to Kat Von D for releasesing such a great product that works amazing. The coverage is amazing with just a few drops.

The Lock-It Tattoo Foundation isn't just great for tattoos, but for scars as well. I picked it up at Sephora one day for $35.00 I believe, and it was such a smart investment! I've already had a few of my friends buy it because they've randomly tried it out when they came over to my place and fall in love with how well it covers scars. I've also used it on my bikini line and though the bottle doesn't say "waterproof" on it, I believe it's worked for me as waterproof. I've spent hours in the pool with the product still on when I get out.

Here's some more detailed info straight from the Sephora site:

The Details Every work of art begins with a perfect canvas. Create yours with this full-coverage foundation in a range of super-pigmented shades for a flawless complexion. Optical diffusers visually minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Fully loaded with a combination of raw materials and the best high-performance ingredients, it provides 24-hour wear, and the transfer-resistant formula means it won’t rub off on you—or anyone else. Natural polymers absorb oil for a matte, soft finish and the added emollients make skin feel velvety-smooth and hydrated. For locked-in looks, Kat’s got you covered. Submit your beauty masterpieces with #KVDLook and check out the bold and beautiful looks below!

Below please watch the video where I sample the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation on one of my own tattoo's on my wrist. Also, subscribe to my YouTube Channel for more awesome stuff HERE.

Hey Nubians,

It's been a while since I've chimed in here, but I'm BACK! I had some guest over my home and some light traveling and journeys... but I've missed my blog dearly. I'm so ecstatic to be back to writing.

I traveled to Arizona for the Grand Canyon which is not far from Las Vegas. I took a convenient and comfy tour bus which I would recommend for those who don't want to drive.

The Grand Canyon is mind blowing! It's beautiful and it's no wonder people come from all over to see it. Standing on the edge looking down with my heart racing in my chest, I took a moment to count my blessings and be grateful that I had a chance to view such a miraculous piece of nature and history.  I took about a 3 mile hike around and the views and colors of the rocks and mountains were astonishing. You have to go see it!

Had to take a quick selfie first haha. #SocialMediaProblems

When it came to outfit decisions, I was torn on what to wear. I wanted to wear something cute and comfortable. I found the lace shorts at ROSS and my lace crop top was from a thrift store. They looked really cute together and complimented each other well.  I LOVE my Ash Sneaker Wedges but perhaps they weren't my smartest choice for a hiking trip. You will be very high up and feel like you need to catch your breathe at times. I recommend regular sneakers or preferable a nice pair of hiking sneakers.

This was me and my friend Mary's attempt at making a heart. Sure it wasn't perfect, but it was still full with lot's of love.

At the end of the hike you have a tavern where you can stop in and eat or have a nice refreshing brewski. We all had a Grand Canyon IPA beer.

Cheers!

Hi Nubians,

Hot, Steamy, Kinky, Entertaining...

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a Cirque du Soleil (Circus of the Sun) show I hadn't seen before ' Zumanity' which launched in September 2003. I've been a Cirque du Soleil fan for years and attended many of their shows in New York. Zumanity was recently renewed February 2015 after adding new acts, new costumes, new music, and new choreography. I never had the pleasure of attending a show here in Las Vegas where I'm now located so you can imagine my excitement!

Zumanity is a topless burlesque/cabaret style show at New York-New York Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. It's unlike any other Cirque du Soleil show I've ever seen. This is an 'adult themed' show for mature audiences only.  The cast in Zumanity does a great job of making you explore your inner beauty, sexuality, and has a way of making you visit a place in your mind you may not explore much... a place where your darker, naughtier thoughts may exist. It was an absolutely marvelous experience! The hostess A.K.A Mistress of Sensuality Edie Drag does a fabulous job at guiding you through the night. Elegant, Funny and Sassy! She's a total riot. There's a lot of dark humor and shocking one liners that come out of her mouth too! Better watch out.

The choreography by Debra Brown, and Marguerite Derricks is riveting! Derricks is a three-time Emmy award-winner and a highly sought after choreographer. Dominic Champagne and René Richard Cyr also do a out of this world job at writing and directing.

So let me think back to a few of my favorite scenes from the show...

** We have 'Waterbowl' were you see artist Ulziibayar Chimed, Bolormaa Zorigtkhuyag, and Stefanie Laurino make you feel as if they're beautiful, pure, untouched mermaids until they decide to completely kick their innocence to the curb. They glide through the water, and come up only for air and to explore their sexual limits while caressing each other. Their sensual poses will surely leave your curiosity aroused (and maybe something else).

** Performer Jill Crook gives 50 Shades Of Grey a run for their money in 'Straps'. She starts off alone on stage in silence bounded in straps while giving herself sexual pleasure. After teasing and torturing herself with leather and building up adrenaline in her body from one aerial figure to the next... then va-va- voom! A grand climactic finale. You will definitely want to visit the sex shop after this one. That's a promise.

** 'Midnight Bath' looked like it got the whole crowd hot and bothered in a good way. Two girls with a man in a bathtub.. It's the ultimate fantasy for many individuals. To add the cherry on top of everything they're pouring pink champagne all over each other while caressing their bodies pretty heavily. Needless to say they're in tip top physical shape too. Artist Anouk Margueritte, Monteece Taylor, and Mario Peoples do a superb job at sucking you into their naughty little world.

Honestly I can go on forever  talking about the acts because they're all so very brilliant and mesmerizing. There's 2 Men (Arnaud Boursain and Philip Sahagun, who rotate the role with Pepe Munoz Martinez) in a cage battling their feelings for one another with intense anger and repulsion, but as always love conquers all and by the end all you see is a big, awesome, passionate kiss.

One of my favorite acts Chains is where artist Brandon Pereyda soars through the air in metal chains and defies gravity while amazing you! He is crazy daring and some might say he stole the show. He hangs from very high up in the air by one foot without breaking a sweat! Unbelievable. Seriously, I felt like he was going to fall on me, I was sort of terrified. I couldn't believe it. He's ridiculously talented. The work and dedication these performers put in knows no limits.

You'll get to meet Dick and Izzy who offer some comedic relief in between scenes. They're total characters. (They allow you the time you need to compose yourself after watching some very hot and heavy scenes).

There's poles, straps, leather, touching, moaning, embracing, flying, spinning, acrobats, heat, temptation, passion and more.  You can not go wrong attending this show. There's also a nice amount of participation from the audience. You might get asked questions like what's your favorite sexual position or sex toy? It's definitely a bit raunchy. They get a few people to go on stage too and you'll be surprised at the things they will convince you to do ha ha! Everyone I saw was a good sport about it and isn't Vegas all about creating memories? Remember 'What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas' even if that means being a part of an on stage orgy (cough, cough).

Another important fact for someone like myself who finds beauty in all sorts of people no matter gender, race, shape or size is that Zumanity is big on diversity. I can't remember the last time I saw so many amazing, talented, sexy, and confident people in one place. It's truly inspiring.

Also very important to me... Let's talk fashion!

I was so pleasantly surprised and charmed when I learned that the costume designer for Zumanity is none other than French fashion designer and artist Thierry Mugler! Oh how I've enjoyed watching his runway shows and presentations throughout the years. As expected he did a wonderful job with Zumanity. The costumes are bold, vibrant, detailed, revealing and fit the mood of the show. His haute couture style is very visible throughout the show. You'll see spikes and different shapes and patterns everywhere. Tons of texture, glitz and shine, and his famous futuristic style used in many of his designs. It's like Fashion x Sci-Fi and a magical way. He flatters women's body in a gorgeous way and does a great job with the men too. The costumes will have your eyes looking like something straight out of a Tex Avery cartoon, popping out of their sockets!

There is something for everyone at Zumanity... if you're into S&M, straight, gay, bi-sexual, a swinger... there is something for EVERYONE. You'll leave the show feeling sexually empowered and probably ready to put some of the stuff you saw at the show to practice (If ya know what I mean).

There are 16 acts in this show and it just keeps getting better and better. I think it's perfect to go with a group of friends or with a significant other and enjoy some drinks. Tickets are available on the Cirque du Soleil website and range from $69 dollars for cabaret stools to $125 for duo sofas.

Hey Nubians, what's cooking?

Last weekend, I was hanging out with my friends Tineey and Kelly and we decided to stop in and check out the new C Wonder store in Columbus Circle.

You all know how I feel about color popping? LOVE. I felt like I entered a Nubia wonderland. There is an endless amount of dope ass shit in there.... Home decor, clothing and accessories. The interior design of the store itself is fun to look at... It's one of those places you walk into and just happens to have a delightful aura (at least I thought so). I'm really looking forward to going back and buying a charm bracelet! I haven't had one of those in A LONG time.

A talented gentleman named Steve Nyman was going caricatures and I decided to get one for fun... I don't think it looks exactly like me hahah but I really like it, I think it's cute.

Un caballero talentoso llamado Steve Nyman estaba haciendo caricaturas y decidí conseguir uno para diversión... No creo que se ve exactamente como yo jajaja pero me gusta mucho, me parece muy lindo.

About a week or 2 ago I was sent a Suave Keratin Infusion Shampoo, Conditioner, and Smooth and Shine Serum. I'm often experimenting with different shampoo's, but I grew up buying Suave so this was kind of special. It's always been extremely affordable, Sometimes as low as a dollar... and it's never steered me wrong. Might have not been the best shampoo ever back in the day, but it got the job done. However.....

Suave Keratin Infusion is awesome! Seriously, I mean it. It's one of my favorite shampoo/conditioners of the moment and I like it a lot more than prior Suave products I've tried. Here are a few quick reasons I like it.

  1. It's a regular to apply shampoo and conditioner and it happens to smell very good.
  2. It helps calm down the frizz in my hair.
  3. I don't need to use a styler on it the next morning or a curler if I don't want to. Even if I let it air dry it comes out very nice which is a lot more than I can say for other shampoo/conditioners.

Not to mention it has Keratin which we all know is very pricey at salons. There will be an Intense Keratin treatment kit from Suave available at stores also  and I hear it's less than $20 dollars, which is a steal!

    Before/After

My hair is thick and wavy and difficult to work with. I've dyed it so many times, it's definitely mistreated. I love the results Suave Keratin Infusion had on my hair. You don't even have to believe me! The shampoo and conditioner is going to be sold for about $3 dollars each, you should just go and try it out yourself.

I made a video talking about it below. It was a sponsored video and I made it in Spanish so you might not all understand it but I''ll put it up anyway for my Spanish audience... It's basically saying what I said in this review here.

Let me know if you have any questions! I'll be glad to get back to you.

Do you have oily skin? well...

I know what you're thinking, WHAT THE F@CK. But it's true my friends. The stuff that helps out your rumbly tummy also helps your face. I didn't believe it at first, but gave it a shot and it works! For some freakishly odd reason my skin decided to be more oily than usual this Summer. I got tired of my face looking shiny so frequently and honestly, blotting papers can only do so much.

I HAVEN'T used Milk of Magnesia(M.O.M) as a mask yet. I read on a few different sites, that some people use it BEFORE they apply their make-up directly on their skin as an acne mask. It works for oil absorption as well. I read good things but haven't put it to the test, perhaps in the future.

I use M.O.M as a make-up mattifier. I apply my make-up and when I'm done I proceed to put M.O.M over my face with a cotton ball. I Blend it nicely and smoothly and make sure not to leave any white spots.

It worked for me and many others. Before I used to go out and an hour into my journey my face was already oily Ugh! But with M.O.M, I go almost the whole day with out any shine on my face, I KID YOU NOT sweet cheeks! Not only is it great for oil control, but it keeps your make-up in place also.

Watch the video below to hear me talk about it a bit more and subscribe to NubTub. Thanks and enjoy!

Have you tried this remedy before? How did it work for you?

"Holy Sardine Batman!" NYC ravers wait till you get your hands on these!? The Japanese are at it again. You have to ask yourself sometimes, Is it for the love of fashion or just pure attention?

Japanese teens are known for pretty bizarre trends and they're making a fairly new trend for your mouth with multi-color glowing led lights. They can be put easily on your teeth and of course they look coolest in the dark. This concept was created by 2 designers Motoi Ishibashi and Daito Manabe who got the inspiration by seeing "Led Throwies" last year.

Can you imagine seeing Lil Wayne rocking a pair of these or Nicki Minaj with one of her infamous wigs? It would be a pretty interesting sight indeed. These are very quickly becoming very popular in Japan.

On another note, The teeth make this strange buzzing sound while there in your mouth. It almost sounds like you have a beat box in there. Seriously it makes me feel as if we're all on our way to slowly become more and more like robots. Check this video below to see what I'm talking about.

Check the 2nd video below that's especially creepy. This one with the school girls looks to be straight out of a horror movie ha ha. It reminds me of a zombie scene of some sort.

I wouldn't really say these teeth are for the "Love of Fashion". They are however interesting. I would probably wear them to a party one time for a few minutes at most and that's about it for me. I could really see the Rave scene getting into these, They love all the LED glowing devices.

    What is love
    Oh baby, don't hurt me
    Don't hurt me no more
    -Haddaway

I think Haddaway had the right idea. I saw Blue Valentine a few days ago directed by Derek Cianfrance and starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. The movie was very "real" to say the least.

Derek Cianfrance tells the story of a young couple struggling through various ups and downs...but more downs. The film goes back and forth between time periods of a young couples relationship and how they fell in love. Though there are a few blind spots in the plot that leave you wondering, overall I would say the movie was fantastic but very sad in a realistic way. If your looking for your "fairy tale" ending, look away! Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams gave such a raw performance. The chemistry between the two was undeniable. I've been a fan of Gosling for sometime and he delivered as usual. I was very impressed with Williams, It might be her best performance yet in my personal opinion. I've heard people say she wasn't "likeable" in the film but honestly she's not suppose to be. She's a confused young woman looking for more out of life. The movie has a very gloomy and nostalgic scenery. Every scene matched almost to perfection the emotion they were going for. The music selection for the movie was one of my favorite things about it, It has a very 1940's-1950's vibe to it.
All the little details between Dean (Gosling) and Cindy (Williams) were on point. Every little touch, every little stare, every little giggle, I could almost literally see the butterflies flying in the beginning of their romance. But like many young romances... Life and obstacles got in the way and Cindy starting to slowly fall out of Love. Dean was blind to this through the years, and was a hopeless romantic who truly believed love would get them through anything.
Now Dear Readers, I have a question for you all... What does one do to keep to flame lit in your relationship? To keep your heart thumping? It is a hurdle every couple has to eventually overcome. Here are some quick tips I gathered for inspiration to you all.

Ways To Keep Your Relationship Flame Flickering
-Be Spontaneous (Just don't over-do it.)
-Have a good court-ship -Get small gifts for your partner. Even if it's a dumb Hallmark card, make them laugh occasionally.
-Surprise Meals (Do it up nicely, it's very easy)

    -Compliment each other
-Leave random post-it notes with cute messages on them
    -Share moments, Have inside jokes.

-Have good sex. Make a connection. (It's very important)
-Be Mysterious Sometimes (Go away, don't always say where you're going)
-Be corny sometimes (by this I mean corny sweet) you have to limit this though because it might become sickening haha.

-Get him/her tickets to their favorite show
-Party separately occasionally. It shows confidence and it's appealing.

-Make sure to always laugh together.

These are just a few small tips. If you Google "How to keep your relationship going", you can probably find hundreds of tips all over the internet. After watching Blue Valentine I thought it was appropriate for inspiration. I am in NO WAY promising these will work, especially when your dealing with a long, complicated relationship. I think if you feel something is worth saving, it's worth a shot. Don't regret it not trying for something you believe in.

Blue Valentine is in theater's now and definitely worth seeing. From the tweets i was reading, It seemed to be a wake-up call for a lot of people and hit home. Check out the Soundtrack also out February 15th.

Oh and By the way... Ryan Gosling singing and playing the ukulele? PRICELESS

    Buried: Directed by Rodrigo Cortés
Over the weekend I saw Buried for the first time and I must say it was horrendous. Actually, The movie was absolutely fascinating. It was terrifying because you are stuck with him in a wooden coffin throughout the whole movie.

Ryan Reynolds plays the role of Paul Conroy a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. His crew gets attacked by a group of Iraqis and when he wakes up he's in a coffin. Director Ridrigo Cortes is brilliant. Despite the fact that once or twice I was thinking "omg is he really going to be in a damn coffin the whole movie" it was very well scripted. I suffer from a bit of anxiety and claustrophobia myself and I was literally taking deep breaths in some of the movie scenes.

Ryan Reynolds shows pure and raw emotions in the film. He shows every emotion possible really: Fear, loneliness, panic, happiness, depression, acceptance. He has these face expressions that one would hope to never see on a man anywhere near me. I hope Reynolds gets some sort of recognition for this film. I always saw him as a romantic comedy kind of actor but he nailed this role in an admirable manner.

I don't want to give too much away from the film but Paul Conroy (Reynolds) had a cellphone with him in the coffin among other supplies. When he tried to reach out for help, it's insane the reactions some people had. You would think some one would be nervous and rush for help but you'll have to see for yourself what goes on. My belief as well as many others, is that the film is trying to show us that the U.S does not go all the way for it's soldiers and it rather protect it's reputation. But who knows, right?

This is one of those films that when you watch it at night, You're still thinking about it in the morning AND THAT MY FRIENDS IS WHAT MAKES A FILM GREAT.

Check out the trailer if you'd like. Enjoy

To end things on a brighter note, Aren't these the cutest darn things!?

Hi! hi! hi! to you all.

I wanted to share with you some NEW STYLES of the lovely patented gla.MAR.ous zipper headbands. I have mentioned these beauties on my blog a few times prior if you might remember. I work with my close friend/designer/creator of these, Mary Beirne and help her distribute them to boutiques. The headbands are cute, chic, and fun! You can wear them in a very girly way or up zip them and let your hipster/bohemian side come out to play. Plus they're adjustable so no headaches kitties!

My personal favorite of these 4 new styles are Madeline the big crown, and Daniella with the gorgeous sequins. I lust over Madeline because who doesn't want to feel like a princess?! Also the big crown SCREAMS Couture to me. Daniella is just exquisite. All the sequins on it has me yearning to wear it on a girls night out. These all have something special about them. If you are interested in seeing more of these, you can visit here.
    Madeline (big crown)
    Daniella

Daffy's has had some really interesting ad campaigns recently. One of their latest was a puzzle broken up into 40 pieces and spread out on subway station posters in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. People in New York took pictures of these posters of different puzzle pieces as they saw them, until finally the image was exposed! Sounds interesting doesn't it? It adds a little fun into advertising and curiosity to people traveling around living their everyday lives. Here are a few examples of some pieces.

To people's surprise this was the final result of the puzzle.

A little provocative and sexy for Daffy's but I like it. This might have been a bit racy for mainstream media but it really goes with there slogan "More Bang Less Buck". I find a lot of Companies get big criticism for being racy but we've all heard "sex sells" and I think it's witty. An ad like this one once in a while doesn't harm anyone in my personal opinion.

(Tweet #undergroundpuzzle is you have any thoughts on this ad you'd like to share)

Photographer Tom Hines has done some great work in his career, you can check him out here. I had the chance to interview him and he gave me some very insightful answers and his personal view on how he feels about being a photographer. Check it out below.

I see you did the look book photography for Daffy's Fall/Winter 2009, How did you feel shooting something so controversial as opposed to there regular campaign?

I feel pretty strongly that I'm part of a generation that's post-controversy. We have all the buttons to push, but there's no dogmatic ideology behind our gestures. I can't help but think of the punk aphorism "don't know what I want but I know how to get it" from the Sex Pistol's song "Anarchy in the UK," but I imagine a revision to that sentiment. If we believe there's no grounded value to our gestures, then it's really a matter of whether we enjoy them or not. The thing I love about this spirit, contrary to much of what's been hypothesized about it in the past, is it's pretty open and peaceful.

If an ad is fun and it can bring a little joy to someone's life, that's great. What were some of the reactions you received when the Daffy's Team saw the final shot?

Haha, well, it's a funny picture in original form. It's naughty, it's spirited, but it's not immoral or anything, at least not here in the USA. The puzzle pieces are much dirtier than my original picture because our brains are filthy, you know? I'm a polite guy, but my brain is in a class of it's own! I'm sure the same is true of your brain. Maybe that's the engine behind a project like this?
What sort of reaction do you think the general public will get out of the ad?

The public is smarter than all of us. When anyone sees a poster in the subway, they know there's a price behind it, even when it's vandalism and graffiti. At best, I hope people enjoy the symbolism of the gesture. Every ad hits you over the head, but this one's having fun.

I love it when I'm in the subway and I find an ad where someone's modified the ad's message into a prank. I don't know why, but it inspires some sort of faith. I believe people are clever, complicated and mysterious. I'm happy to go along with that spirit. I see this project as a distant relative of a prank, only done backwards.

How did you feel about the idea of ripping the photo into puzzle pieces?

I'm a serious photographer, and I'm not inclined to chop up my pictures for the fun of it! But if I see one of my pictures on the side of the bus, and some vandal has drawn a mustache on it, I've got to respect that. People do all sorts of stuff with my pictures, and I have to trust in others, especially if they're being cool, having a good time, and striving for something special. My career as a photographer was made on the Internet, where things have been generally out of my hands the whole time.

An advertisement is different from a photograph. It just happens that one of my pictures was commissioned for this act of light-hearted rebellion, and I was happy to be involved. Selling clothes at affordable prices is fine by me. If it's healthy, go for it. If it had been an ad for handguns or transfats, I wouldn't have done it.

As a photographer I'm sure you've heard "A picture is worth a thousand words" What does this say to you?

This notion is among the major reasons why I do fashion photography. After paying my dues in the discourse of the Art Academy, I fell in love with the idea of making pictures that didn't need critique and philosophy to prop them up. Fashion pictures are a populous momentum play, you make pictures, and then you make more pictures. Tomorrow is a new day. You don't need a smart artist's statement, you don't need a critical essay by a respected theorist, you don't need a wall slick, you just need moments and eyes. I love that about Fashion, and that's my motivation to align with fashion photo. Fashion is an ocean and everyone's in it. When the ball-player wakes up in the morning and puts on his lucky socks, that's fashion, no justification required. At the so-called high-end of the fashion dialectic, when Nicolas Ghesquière makes a dress owing intellectual gratitude to André Breton's reading of Comte de Lautréamont's Songs of Maldoror, no citation is needed. It's a dress. Fashion is a broad collection of ideas and points of entry rather than a set.
