Heart, Be Still...

Mattel Barbie dolls have been breaking the mold lately and changing for the very best. They're focusing more on inspiring young girls to be not only beautiful but SMART too and independent, career chasers. Recently, Barbie has designed dolls to represent artist Frida Kahlo, NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, Olympian Chloe Kim & more. Now they have added another woman that many of us definitely look up to, Iris Apfel! YES!!! I'm a big Iris Apfel fan. Her style, spirit, and way of life are huge inspirations to me. Iris Apfel has a very successful career in interior design for over a decade and a very interesting life in general. She's the unofficial queen of accessories. Anyone who hasn't watched the documentary 'Iris" definitely should. She's someone the youth should aspire to be like.

Halloween might have been yesterday, but that doesn't mean you can't have a little Michael Myers in your life all your round thanks to Mezco Toyz.

This one is for my horror & action figure fans! John Carpenter debuted his film "Halloween" in October 1978. Little did he know that he had created a masterpiece for horror culture many pay homage to in their own films till this day. He also created a die hard (like Michael) fandom of Michael Myers fans. Michael Myers is terrifying. Though I am a fan, if I saw someone seriously approaching me dressed as Michael Myers and not uttering a word, I would probably run for the hills and never look back. Michael was a twisted, mysterious little boy from Haddonfield who killed his older sister and became a crazy, murderous, soul less eyed adult who wore a white mask and was often referred to as "The Shape"... he was also trying to kill the other sister he left behind.

The story of everyday girls like you and I, in a little town who worked as babysitters getting murdered on a mans quest to kill his sister seemed pretty possible which made this story quite scary. Long story short, Michael Myers is a horror icon and the Mezco Toyz 'The One:12 Collective Michael Myers Halloween' figure will mesmerize you. It's truly beautiful in the creepiest way possible. The details will knock you out your socks. His eyes still piercing as ever. The figure also brings great accessories from the film like the ghost sheet & Judith Myers tombstone.

Read the information and enjoy viewing the great photos of the Michael Myers figure in action below. This figure is available for pre-order now and is expected to ship sometime between June - August 2018. Check out the Mezco Toyz website HERE.

The festival’s ‘Artist Alley’ will be an intimate, curated showcase of some of the most notable comic and toy art from mainstream and independent creators across the world’s emerging pop art scene - with participants including Annie Wu, Bryan Lee O’Malley, Cliff Chiang, Khary Randolph, Magdalene Visaggio, and Sean Gordon Murphy. LEGO Slippers Can Make A lot Of Us 'Ouch' A Little Less.

These LEGO slippers are pretty damn cool. I read publications spreading the news about these a few days ago and all the headlines spoke all about how fortunate and great these are for parents... what about for kids and teens?! They should make these in all sizes!

When I was younger, I very much enjoyed playing with LEGO's. I used to try to build houses and communities... they're a great toy to be creative with. However, I used to step on them all the time! It was always so painful and annoying.

According to piwee.net, the LEGO brand has teamed up with French advertising agency Brand Station to create 1,500 pairs of the slippers with extra padding to prevent the pain you get from steeping on a LEGO. The slippers will be distributed randomly to people who fill out a Christmas wish list on the LEGO France website.

They'll make fun little Christmas gifts and hopefully they continue making them in different styles.

What do you guys think? Hit or miss?

Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

March 2016 is going to be a SUPER month for Target!

(I'm bummed I missed NY Toy Fair but I was lucky enough to get a pass for my brother who went and covered the event.)

It's so fascinating to me that after years of hearing about women's struggle in the comic book industry and attending panels all about it, the last 2 years or so have brought along such magnificent change. I can finally see women getting more and more appreciate and recognition in what was considered a 'mans profession'. The best part of all is that it appears to be consistent change that doesn't seem like it'll slow down anytime soon. YAY! Very inspirational and it just goes to show you anything is possible if you try hard enough.

More girl power is about to hit the shelves at Target next month, March 2016 with a line of  'DC Super Hero Girls' action figures and a clothing line. The line will feature some of the most popular ladies of DC Comics... Supergirl, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, and Bumble Bee.

My brother sent me these photographs he took below from NY Toy Fair where they were giving everyone an exclusive sneak peek.

I am so happy to see Target staying on top of Pop Culture trends and encouraging young ladies to feel extra super and powerful.  Creating a message where from a young age girls can feel equal, out spoken, strong, and mighty! The t-shirts have awesome encouraging words on them such as COURAGE, HEART, BRAINS, SUPER, STRONG, EPIC, BRAVE.

Now they real question is.... Can I fit in a large? hehe.

Taking A Stroll Through Mezco Toyz...

Seeing awesome figures from two of my favorite shows next to each other seems like a sweet way to start this post. Here we have Breaking Bad and a little peek of Sons Of Anarchy.

The boyz over at Mezco Toyz are also hoping to release Tygra in October of this year! Thundercat fans rejoice! It's what you've all been waiting for.

 Isn't he a beaut?

What's Up Doc? How rad is this Bugs Bunny? Many people had heard about a Mezco Toyz deal with Warner Bros and now you have a sneak peek.

This Annabelle figure is creepy as hell... nice detail and all... moving on.

This was one of my favorites. I love a good classic and this Chucky doll is giving me life. The yellow box gives me nostalgia over the actual "Good Guy" doll box seen in the horror films.

All hail Chucky! and Charles Lee Ray too.

Living Dead Dolls are all about Creature from the Black Lagoon. You can pre-order this bad boy HERE.

Another very sweet treat is that Mezco presented The Living Dead Dolls Series 29: The Nameless Ones. The kind of dolls that will haunt your dreams and come to life on your shelves just how we like them! These dolls will be available May 2015 and are definitely on the wish list.  You can pre-order HERE.

If you had to pick just one of the figures above, which would it be?

How pretty are these ladies?

Funko Toys has revealed more from it's Vinyl Vixen collection with Vinyl Sugar. We now have the frisky Catwoman and Poison Ivy. For anyone interested, The Harley Quinn Vinyl Vixen was available at Hot Topic (for $29.50) as a pre-exclusive but unfortunately it seems to be out of stock, womp, womp!

I'm always crushing on the ladies of DC Comics. I'm usually a sucker for Harley Quinn but my favorite out of these figures is Poison Ivy. Her eyes are seductive and I love the special touch the rose in her hand adds to the figure. I'm smitten with the pin-up flair these bad girls have.

The Poison Ivy and Catwoman Vinyl Vixen Figures will be released in March.

Which one of these gorgeous gals is your favorite?

Ok are these Todd McFarlane The Walking Dead toys and building sets insane or what?!

All AMC The Walking Dead fans take a breathe. Todd McFarlane has presented you with an early Christmas. He has some really cool shit displayed at the New York Toy Fair 2015 right about now. From cellblocks to boiler rooms to the Governor's truck to Walker Barriers. The detail going on in these figures and sets alone is enough to make a damn zombie want to come back to life and mess around with them.

I haven't kept up with The Walking Dead as much as I should have (I'm not currently up-to-date on the series) however, I can say one of my favorite things about these toys and sets is that I really feel they show raw emotion. I find myself starring at them almost as if they were a scene from the show... like I'm replaying a clip over and over again if that makes any sense.

There's some war, brutality, blood and violence going on in these displays. Anything to survive another day and get away from these damn walkers.

How sick is this?

They have so much you can pick from for you to build your own The Walking Dead world right in your living room if you choose. Build a ton of collectibles with Walkers getting their brains blown out, FUN STUFF KIDS.

What do you think about these figures? Hope you've added a few to your gift list. I have tons of friends that would literally die (and maybe become a walker) for these.

Xx Nubia
