If you like playing Street Fighter, you'll love seeing the ladies of Street Fighter embrace some pin-up style and poses. Chun-Li, Sakura, C-Viper, Karin, Cammy, and Kolin are going to take a break from kicking ass and break hearts instead. I remember being a young girl and playing Street Fighter on my brothers Playstation and thinking to myself how cool it would be to be like one of these characters. Good times. I always looked up to strong women.

Sometimes It Feels So Good To Be Bad.

The Blonds Runway show was a Disney Dream Come True... Or Nightmare.

Almost every New York Fashion Week The Blonds, Phillipe Blond and creative director David Blond have a themed runway show. This year for their Spring/Summer 2019 collection it is Disney's Villains. I had the pleasure of witnessing many of their runways in person though sadly I couldn't attend this year. One thing I've always admired is their insane attention to detail that you can spot anywhere from the fabrics, hair, and nails. I think they have the best nail designs of all the New York Fashion Week runway shows.

Because Mom Deserves The Best!

Mother's Day is just around the corner. We should all be celebrating our Mother's every day, however, it's nice that they have a day dedicated just to them. Think Geek has such a fun and unique Mother's Day selection right now. It's perfect for comicbook and movie lovers. I don't believe your mom needs to necessarily be a 'geek' to enjoy these gifts, but it's definitely a plus. Either way, giving her something that reminds her of you will probably be a gift all on its own.

DC Comics, this is quite epic. The big day has finally arrived. It looks like Catwoman and Batman are getting married! Of course, once we all knew this was happening, we were dying to see her wedding dress! The cosplay possibilties are bonkers. How many brides will we be seeing at Comic Con Conventions?

GIRLS RULE THE WORLD!

The Ladies from some of my favorite TV shows such as The Flash, Jessica Jones, Riverdale and possibly Charmed, have been kicking ass lately! It's so much fun to watch how the women's movement is all over the place. Literally, everywhere I look, pure magic. I love my comicbook shows. Marvel comics, DC comics & Archie Comics are working on some real gems. Even Charmed eventually released a comicbook published by Zenescope Entertainment.

Hey Nubians,

I Love, Love, Love, Music!

As a writer and a creative enthusiast that dabbles in many art forms, music is one of the things that moves me deeply. The rhythm, beats & more importantly the lyrics speak to my soul. Music has been with me through the best of times and the worst of times. Have you ever felt like a song gets released just when you need it the most? The lyrics match your situation perfectly and you just keep replaying it over and over because it gives you goosebumps and you slowly start to feel tiny little hairs on your arms rise? Well, me too! It's almost like a hidden message that reminds me I'm not alone in my feelings if there are other people writing about it too.

I haven't been listening to new music that much lately. I do, but just not too much. I'll be posting which songs I've been playing a lot lately and telling you why. Lately, I've been on a bit of an oldies binge. In my own personal opinion, music was a lot more perky, simplistic, and positive anywhere from the 50s to early 90s. But as I said prior, this is my own personal opinion. I'm sure there are tons and tons of underground artists I haven't been listing to lately that are hidden gems.

Anyway... Here we go! This is what I've been jamming to this week.

The Beach Boys: Kokomo

Gosh, when I hear this song I just want to pick up a Piña Colada and go lay under a palm tree somewhere. Kokomo was written by John Phillips (Lead Singer of the Mamas and Papas which I also enjoy listening to), Scott McKenzie, Mike Love, and Terry Melcher (Which was a target of the Mason Family who luckily went unharmed). This soothing song was performed by The Beach Boys. It was released July 18,1988.

Fun Fact: A lot of people don't know that "Kokomo" in this song is not a real place. There are a lot of places called "Kokomo" around the world, but none of them is located off the Florida Keys.

I've been particularly enjoying this classic song lately because I've been thinking of traveling around the end of this year and the majority of next year hopefully. Listening to this song and all of the places it mentions such as Aruba, Jamaica, Bermuda, Bahama, Key Largo, Montego, gets me super excited and inspired. A lot of people get annoyed by this song but you have to take it for what it is, just a short song with a catchy hook that's meant to make people happy. Imagine myself on an island with my fiance enjoying life just as we did in Kona, Hawaii late last year.

Favorite Lyric: Oh I want to take you down to Kokomo, we'll get there fast and then we'll take it slow.

Coldplay: Adventure of a Lifetime.

I could listen to almost any Coldplay song and lose myself. He is a top-notch performer and amazing artist. Adventure of a Lifetime was written by Chris Martin along with Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion, Mikkel S. Eriksen, and Tor Erik Hermansen. It was released November 6, 2015.

This song not only has beautiful composition but its lyrics are very inspiring. To me, the song represents a journey where you find your own magic and path through life. It's a very addicting song you'll want to listen to over and over again.

Favorite Lyric: We are legends every day that’s what she told me.

The Archies - Sugar, Sugar.

I've totally been on an Archie Comics binge lately. I've been reading the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, watching Riverdale and even rewatching some of the old Sabrina The Teenage Witch episodes on Hulu when I'm bored at night and want to fall asleep to something. Great fashion on that show too by the way. "Sugar, Sugar" is a great little song written by written by Jeff Barry and Andy Kim.  It gets you in the mood of celebrating crushing on someone and being in love. It compares wanting someone as bad as you may want something sweet like Candy. The song was released May 24, 1969, and recorded by the virtual band the Archies. This girl is never too old for some bubblegum pop!

Favorite Lyric: I just can't believe the loveliness of loving you.

What songs are moving your soul this week? Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

LOVE IS SCARY.

Do you date or are you married to a Sci-Fi / Horror Freak & Geek? I love a good or classic horror movie. I say "or classic" because let's face it, some of them suck but we love them anyway. I believe horror memorabilia make great Valentine's Day gifts! Why you ask? Because horror, just like love, allows us to release some of our most intimate, vulnerable feelings. In addition, you always want to kill people you love one way or another... get real. Enjoy this horror gift guide and get freaky this Valentine's Day.

Hey Nubians,

One thing I love about conventions, is the ability to take every thing in at once. You get to discover new artists, fashion, writers and creators in general because everything is next to each other in a huge space. While I was at New York Comic Con this year I bumped into a few cool tables and discovered some awesome, geek inspired fashionable items. Not only for comicbook lovers, but for devoted book readers and gamers too.

Hey My Beautiful Nubians,

Every time I go to a convention I try to visit the vendors and support either by buying items I like, taking photos of them tables, or sometimes both! At Liberty City Anime Con there was a lot of nice & nerdy trinkets for you to admire. Your geek girl or geek boy desires would have been very pleased. There was tons of anime art, cool pocket watches with characters on them such as Batman, Superman, Harry Potter of even Tim Burton characters. You'll also see a bunch of super kawaii clothing, silverware, accessories, & more. Unfortunately I couldn't get everyones information and not everyone had business cards, but if you like something and the information isn't listed, shoot me a message and I will try to find out where it's from.

Hey Nubians,

"With Science Fiction There's Endless Possibilities" - Anna Torv

I know I'm a little late on this one but I'm completely head over heels in love with the Gucci Fall 2017 Campaign. Anyone who can make fashion fun and have us use our imagination a bit more while getting dressed in the morning has a fan in me. I'm not a big Star Trek fan which is what the editorial is highly inspired by, but I do like films such as Forbidden Planet and Creature from the Black Lagoon that have also influenced this shoot. I've also always been smitten with 1950s & 1960s fashion, glitter makeup and ravishing red lips and futuristic looking hairstyles with a touch of retro Hollywood glam. I also need the glasses in this shoot in my life, they'd make a great staple to my Fall wardrobe.

Hey Nubians,

"Listen sister, if I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of you." -Elvira

Some of you may know I am a HUGE horror fan so naturally I got hyped last Halloween when I saw LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs introduced Mistress Of The Dark, Elvira’s very own specialty makeup palette! Elvira AKA Cassandra Peterson, is known as a Queen in the horror realm and the "Queen of Halloween". She has always been a hostess with a very vampy & sexy look and a lot of sass. That wonderfully creepy lady sure knew how to entertain her viewers. I'm sure all the goth boys probably had a crush on her! Non goth too.  I haven't seen enough write ups on this palette so even though it's a few months old, I thought I'd share it with you all just in case you missed it. Plus I love how LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs celebrate horror fans through beauty.

"All of us at LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs are honored to collaborate & celebrate with one of the “greatest of the great” horror icons going back 35 years! In commemorating these awe inspiring 35 years…we introduce, Mistress Of The Dark, Elvira’s very own specialty makeup palette!  We are honored at LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs to introduce with “the one and only” Elvira, our gorgeous, custom, limited edition, (coffin shaped, of course) make up palette honoring the many roles, our inspiring, late night horror hostess/actress, Elvira (Cassandra Peterson) has brought into all of our lives. "

Did I mention this product is talc free, paraben free, vegan and cruelty free?! The LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs Mistress Of The Dark Elvira palette features colors that the character wears herself. Nothing too bubbly of course, but there is a gorgeous shade of blue in there I have my eye on... and may be on my eyelids soon. There are also red tones, black, and white. The coffin shape of the palette is perfection of course and a brand signature.

Here is a beautiful photo of the makeup being worn I pulled from the LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs website. The colors blend very nicely and seem to have good pigmentation.

You may also enjoy some bad ass Elvira quotes hidden under the palette!

The palette is limited edition and limited quantity so if you're a fan, better order it asap!
You can head on over HERE to order.

Have an amazing, spooky day!

Cheers!

Hi Everyone,

Remember when I geeked out and told you about how cool the Five Points Festival is going to be? The Five Points Festival is a designer toy and comic convention presented by Clutter Magazine and Midtown Comics taking place in NYC at Pier 36 and guess what?...

I'm giving away 3 one day passes!

You can use these passes for Saturday, May 20th or Sunday, May 21st.

To Enter: Leave a comment or tag a friend you think may be interested on my Instagram Post HERE.

Don't miss out on the convention... it sounds like what my soul needs right now. As I said once before, Comicbooks, Art, Toys, Food, And Some Good Brews... What More Can A Geek Girl or Boy Ask For?! I would love to roam around Pier 36 enjoying myself at this festival and hunting down some of my favorite artists.

"Enthusiasts familiar with art toys will have the chance to meet some of the world’s most iconic artists and brands like Huck Gee, Kidrobot, James Groman, Jason Freeny, Ron English of Popaganda, Simone Legno of Tokidoki, Super7, Tara McPherson, and Mighty Jaxx on the show floor, where they will be featured alongside artists from the U.S., Japan, Germany, Korea, the U.K. and elsewhere, some showcasing in NYC for the first time, and all with unique, original pieces for sale. The festival’s ‘Artist Alley’ will be an intimate, curated showcase of some of the most notable comic and toy art from mainstream and independent creators across the world’s emerging pop art scene - with participants including Annie Wu, Bryan Lee O’Malley, Cliff Chiang, Khary Randolph, Magdalene Visaggio, and Sean Gordon Murphy. Anyone who has attended mainstream art shows or comic cons will find something completely unique at Five Points - a gathering of visual innovators, rebels, creators and the misfits who are driving the future of commercial, counterculture art."

Cheers!

Violent Lips Minis are these super adorable temporary lip tattoos. They're a great alternative to lipstick when you want to do something fun and make a statement or simply get creative with your makeup. You can also use these little temporary tattoos on your face so they're perfect for Coachella or any type of cool festival or party.

What You'll Need.
  • Scissors
  • Cotton Balls
  • Water
If you're animated like me and love comics, cartoons, and art you'll probably enjoy sporting these for a day. If you're a Social Media Manager or work in the Digital Realm they're also perfect for you.

Remove them with some makeup remover or coconut oil. They last a fair amount of time if you don't do anything crazy like bite your lips, or go a a crazy make out session.

Hey Nubians,

Where there is no imagination there is no horror.
-Arthur Conan Doyle

I saw the Tales From The Crypt Concept Trailer by M. Night Shyamalan which will air on TNT and I must say as a horror fan I am immensely excited. I will be glued to my television! This show the same as the original which aired on HBO from 1989 to 1996 will be based on the popular comic series from EC Comics. I've always been so interested in M. Night Shyamalan and have so much respect for him because he's a risk taker and I love that! He might not have as many 'hits' as some other directors but he has a deek, dark, and vivid imagination. I would love to pick his brain. I recently watch "Split" which I enjoyed and was very creepy & "The Visit". Both of them had an interesting twist.

See the concept video for Tales From The Crypt:

It looks so damn good! Thought I do fear that fact that it will be on TNT but hopefully that won't be a huge deal. This trailer showed suspense, freaky shit like people in a trance jumping off buildings or in gas masks, insects, the forest, paranormal aspects, & more. I like how M. Night Shyamalan mentioned that Tales From The Crypt was before it's time because I'd have to say I agree. I also likes how he refers to the Crypt Keeper as a "Dark Walt Disney" because Walt Disney was a person who was a great host and took us to this magical, wonderful place he created. I believe the Crypt Keeper does the same in taking us to a dark and eery place where we have to face our fears and he hypnotizes us and locks us in. I remember when I was younger I would turn on the original Tales From The Crypt on HBO sometimes (my parents weren't aware I was doing this) and I would have to turn it off at some point of the episode because I couldn't deal with the fear that was building up in my body. I would feel my heart slowly beating harder and harder against my chest. What is it about fear that almost makes it such an adrenaline rush. I remember closing my eyes slowly trying to fall asleep that night and then quickly opening them because I FELT the fear. I felt like there was something in the room with me. Probably not the best feeling for a young girl haha but I have been a horror fan my whole life growing up after that.

And I very much did love the Crypt Keeper because he was wicked. I use the word 'wicked' because he was scary but laughed about it and has quite the humor. He laughed at your fear and toiled with your emotions. He was an entertainer! I'm very please that M. Night Shyamalan is keeping this classic character as part of the show.

Now, Here's Why Horror Fans Will Enjoy This Much More Than American Horror Story... It's Quite Simple Really... IT ACTUALLY LOOKS SCARY.

(This clown was pretty freaky though)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing American Horror Story at all. I'm a fan of the show and have watched every season. It's just that I don't find it very scary truly. I look at it more like creepy, bloody, story telling. But it doesn't do 'that thing' for me. That thing that makes terror seep into my brain and crawl under my skin. I do think most seasons have had good story telling, and they have a stellar cast. I love Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and look forward to the return of Jessica Lange hopefully and maybe even Connie Britton now that she's done with Nashville. I find it entertaining more then anything else with a bit of blood splatter. Take AHS season 3 for example 'Coven', I enjoyed it but it was like a mix of Mean Girls mixed with The Craft. For reasons like these, I believe true horror fans will enjoy the Tales From The Crypt reboot more. I believe M. Night Shyamalan has a vision that we're all going to be pleased with. I guess we'll see if I'm right or wrong. I will continue watching American Horror Story because I enjoy it regardless (even though I wasn't the biggest fan of Roanoke.)

Anyway, I'm super excited for Tales From The Crypt to begin and I hope M. Night Shyamalan makes it genius.

Will you be watching? Thoughts?

Cheers!

So Have You Watched Project Runway? This Is The Cosplay, Geek Loving Version!

I'm a big fan of cosplay and have been cosplaying for a few years now. I even wrote an article about how much I love going to Comic Con and dressing up as characters I like from Dc Comics, Marvel Comics, Video games & more. I'm also a big fan of the DIY (Do It Youself) community. For this reason I'm super excited about Syfy's 'Cosplay Melee' Competition series. I think cosplay has affected peoples lives in a magnificent way and broken plenty of people out of bubbles. It's such a supportive, fun, positive, community in my experience.

Love Is In The Air ...
Valentine's Day is among us and I am dateless! Where will my chocolates, flowers, and shiny gifts be? My boyfriend will be working all night and I will be working all day. Therefore I might have a little something at home waiting for me haha (I better).Spare me with all of the "I don't celebrate Valentine's Day" "We celebrate love everyday" blah blah blah crap. Though to be honest, I do agree love should be celebrated everyday and to be quite frank I never cared much for Valentine's Day gifts. A simple hand written card or something creative would do the job for me. HOWEVER, It's hard not to get a little bittersweet and feel down because brace yourself... you will be seeing tons of affection all around you everywhere! Online, on the streets, in your nightmares... EVERYWHERE. The hugs, holding hands, gazing into each others eyes, kissing, the list goes on.

For the reasons above, I have decided to share some tips on how to spend an awesome Valentine's Day alone.

Hey Nubians,

The greatest gift of life is friendship

I love Stagy Igel! She is the Founder and Creative Director of Boy Meets Girl and one of the sweetest most inspirational ladies I know. Always chasing her dreams, being kind and helpful towards other, supporting multiple charities, the list goes on.

Now Boy Meets Girl and Care Bears are collaborating to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Care Bears. Hooray! This will be their second collection together. The collection is exclusive to Colette and is launching on Valentine's Day which I think is perfection!

Hey Nubians,

I Don't Want To Grow Up.

I love putting outfits together that look like they don't make sense. This outfit for example, a sporty Sanrio Hello Kitty light jacket, A long thrifted glitter skirt, a backwards DC Comics Wonder Woman baseball cap and a pair of H&M boot heels. Many people might not think this ensemble works but I totally dig it. It's always been a thing I do. I belong to the world of print mixers and color blockers. I take joy in the unconventional and encourage others to always think out the box and have fun. Be confident! I follow many bloggers who dress fun and spontaneously. It doesn't always have to be too crazy but I like to push traditional boundaries a bit. Fashion is suppose to be fun after all.
