Hey Nubians,

You Can Never Have Too Many Shoes ...

A few weeks ago I went to Donald Pliner event At The Forum Shops Las Vegas to get a sneak peek of their Pre Fall Shoe Collection. I was absolutely smitten with everything! I can definitely appreciate a well made, fashionable shoe. From sandals, oxfords, boots, and more, Donald Pliner shoes stay on trend and many of them dare to be different and break the mold with stitching and patterns that make them unique. Beautiful detail will make this shoe collection something you'll covet for Fall.

A variety of these pumps take inspiration from the 60s. I admire 60s trends probably more than I like most trends from today therefore, this immediately made me excited to see more. The fur embellishment on heels and flats trend has been back for a few months and it looks like it will extend until the end of the year. The silhouette on these shoes is sexy too! I dream of having a few of these in my closet. I had a blast mingling with a few Las Vegas Bloggers, trying on shoes from the current and Pre Fall collection, sipping and margaritas and enjoying music... talk about the definition of a great evening right?!

I was chatting with a few bloggers and this gorgeous shade of pink is a fan favorite.

These little loafers with the dots on them look like something from outer space. Again, it makes me think of 60s mod fashion. So much fun!

These works of art are available for pre-order now with a delivery date of early August. I can promise you one thing, wearing one of these Donald Pliner shoes this Fall will definitely make a few people break their neck trying to check out your shoes! This is a quality shoe that will last you a long time. Head on over and shop.

Want to know another great thing about this event? A portion of the sales from this event benefited a non-profit organization called Dopamind Boxing & Cycling. Dopamind Boxing and Cycling helps adults suffering from Parkinson’s by training them with non contact boxing and cycling classes. It helps improve their movement and balance. It's also a different and refreshing approach to help someone with Parkinson’s by making them feel in charge and independent. The non contact boxing and spin classes has helped improve Parkinson's symptoms such as motor function and coordination. They offer both group and individual work out classes so if you know someone suffering from Parkinson's who wants to try something new, please spread the word.

Cheers!

Hey Nubians!

"Invest In Your Hair Because It's The Crown You Never Take Off"
A lot of people have been complimenting my hair lately and asking where I get my color done which is super nice. I've used a large variety of products throughout the years but lately I've been sticking to mainly Aveda products and Aveda Color. I've been getting my hair colored a nice lavender shade and dark brown by my friend/senior stylist Maria at g Aveda Salon & Spa at Downtown Summerlin in Las Vegas. She's a super sweet heart. The type that talks to you about your life, dances while she mixes color ha ha she's great.

My hair has gone through quite the journey to get to this happy place...

At some point in time my hair ended up looking like this photo below. It was a half blonde or I guess you can say blondish color and half dark brown. I was trying to slowly go platinum but decided to give up on that journey for now and focus on my hairs health after seeing some breakage.

If you want to have fun with your hair and be able to switch up 'Fashion Colors' pretty often Aveda is good because it starts fading after a few washes which either allows you to re-color it or switch to a new color. I also like that Aveda Hair Color is vegan and cruelty free. The color does not contain petroleum based chemicals which makes the water supply when you wash your hair much cleaner environmentally.

Aveda Artist mix their colors by creating a formula for it (they're like hair color scientist!) which means the color is customized just for you. It's a pretty cool concept and I love the thought of being more considerate towards the environment which this brand is VERY known for.

After a while with Maria at g Aveda Salon, TAH DAH! I absolutely love my color. There is also an insane amount of Aveda products I've been starting to use to make sure my hair slowly but surely gets to a luminous healthy state again. There's Dry Remedy, Split End Repair, Hair Masque, Color Conserve... the list goes on.

Gorgeous dimension to not make color look dull and boring.

A big perk with my color in particular is that it has faded very nicely as well. It looks like a silver kind of color now and I plan to keep it that way for a while.

Thanks to those of you have kindly complimented my hair. If you have any questions, leave them in the comment box below.

Geek Girls & Boys Rejoice!

Zappos is hosting a Drive-In movie night this Saturday August 27th 2016. I've never been to a Drive-In movie in my life so I'm hoping to make it. There's something so very cool about drive-in movies. They remind me of a simpler time I wish I lived in. I must plan my outfit accordingly. I'm hoping to pop some popcorn and make it with my boy toy or a girlfriend. We'll see what happens.

And what's even better... wait for it... They're showing Star Wars The Force Awakens! Yes!

Definitely cool for my Vegas friends to check out or if you're in town. Cheers!

Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

Breakfast Is A Big Deal.

You know, I never used to be much of a breakfast person most of my life. I would just wake up, have coffee, and zoom out the door like The Flash (see what I did there?). But through the years
it became a necessity to me for a few different reasons. Some people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for health purposes and to give you energy. It definitely gives the body fuel to have some nice, enjoyable food in the morning.I have also found that as I get older I crave peace in my life. I no longer want to rush out the door, I want to sit and daydream a bit before I have a long day of work ahead of me. You can call it foodie meditation or something of the sort, but I need a nice breakfast to start my day off right.

I often frequent Einstein Bros. Bagels here in Las Vegas on West Sahara. Recently they released the Chorizo Sunrise and it is everything I've dreamed of and more. "Come for the Chorizo, stay for the Fresh Cracked Huevos". The ingredients include Fresh-Cracked Eggs, Chorizo, Avocado, Jalapeño Salsa Shmear and Pepper Jack Cheese on a Fresh-Baked Green Chile Gourmet Bagel. My secret for kicking it up a notch and getting it to taste even better for my palate you ask? I get it made with a Cheddar Jalapeño Gourmet bagel instead. POW!

Hey Nubians,

"Home Is Where The Heart Is."

I love art, fashion, comics, and pop culture. If you ever visit my home, you'll find little traces of my interest laying around or on the walls. You might find an X-Men action figure or 2 on my TV stand, a poster from an artist I like in my bedroom or living room, comics books, fashion magazines or novels decorating tables, etc. It's also nice to just have a statement piece if you don't want to over do it.

A while back I went to First Friday in Downtown Las Vegas with a few of my friends to check out the talent and enjoy some food. I bumped into The Dead Flux.

The Dead Flux is a cool company based here in Las Vegas. I fell in love especially with the comic, luchador, and Frida Khalo Lamps they had! They would look so rad as unique, stylish home decor. They also sell Jewelry, clothing, Hair Candy, Pins, & more. Below are a few of the photos I snapped. They were very friendly at the booth too!

The have an Etsy shop that you can visit HERE and the prices are very fair in my opinion. Their little tag line is  "Where Day of the dead art & comics collide!"

Here's the bio of the shop owner below:

"We're here to make awesome unique things , were tired of identical mass produced items, aren't you?

It all started with a bag.
I was 16 super punk rock and I was obsessed with leopard print, I started sewing leopard print on everything, cd cases, sweaters, pants, everything.
I made myself a shoulder bag in 2004 (That I STILL have to this day, and it still holds up like the day it was made!) someone asked me to make them one, and that was my first sale, the rest is history!

One thing that I love about the dead flux is that we are always changing, always evolving always getting better, that why i named my company the dead flux

flux
fləks/
noun
1.the action or process of flowing or flowing out.

2.continuous change.

We pride our self's in recycling, up-cycling, and repurposing, we love the idea of being able to take an item that would otherwise sit in a landfill for 450+ years.
Revamp it and vavoooom now its a freaking awesome one of a kind day of the dead lamp that you can use for your day of the dead alter, or a star wars lamp for you dads man cave, the possibilities, like our imaginations are endless."

I think what they're doing is great. Make sure you check them out and follow their social media channels where they host promotions and giveaways.

Cheers!

Hello Nubians,

If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you'll never get it done.  -Bruce Lee

This quote above is pretty spot on with my life... probably with many of yours too. I spend way to much time over thinking everything... EVERYTHING. What can go right? What can go wrong? How long will this take? Doubts, fears, etc. In all reality, we should spend this time getting things started! Putting our ideas in motion. That's why I was so happy to have a small little STAYCATION when my best friend Mary visited Las Vegas last week! It was a great time to refresh my mind and get my priorities straight. The plan is to get back on the grind and be super focused now that it's over.  It was a lot of fun.

We stayed in the Paris Hotel and Casino. It's a very beautiful and elegant hotel. The swimming pool is gorgeous and you have the closest view of the Eiffel Tower replica. We enjoyed a few afternoon swims and drinks there.

Below is a photo of myself and my friend Mary. Ever since I moved to Las Vegas we don't see each other as often but we still talk pretty much everyday. The older I get the more I realize that real friends are so incredibly hard to come by. She's my sister and I love her tons.

One night we went with my friend Lily and Jasmin to club Drai's located in the Cromwell Hotel and Casino. I was really excited to go because I heard it was nice but I must have gone on an off night because it was rachet as hell! Sorry Drai's! Would not recommenced anyone to go on a Sunday night. We still had fun though, went to a bar and made it work.

I wore a last minute outfit I purchased at Forever 21 because I didn't really pack much dressy clothes with me. The blouse gives me Selena vibes (super excited about the MAC collection FYI) and the skirt was nice and fitted. The shoes I did already pack with me which are from ZARA.

Sassy girl!

At some point of the night we ended up at the PBR Rock Bar at Planet Hollywood and my friend Mary made me try a pickle back. She's obsessed with them. I believe it's a shot of whiskey chased with a shot of pickle brine. It was pretty tasty but I think I need to try it one more time ha ha.

What have all of you been up to? Excited for Summer fashion?!?!

Cheers!

Hi Nubians,

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. -Albert Einstein

Lately I have been soooo busy which explains the lack of updating my blog. I'm moving and it's been turning my world upside down. I hate moving! The good thing is as they say, change is good. I'll be moving to a cooler neighborhood and a nicer more modern apartment which makes me very happy.

I have a lot of great plans this year and have been feeling very grateful lately. Projects revolving fashion, beauty, geeky things and art. I'm on a journey to reach a new level within myself and what I love this year. It's extremely exciting. I've learned that so many of us unintentionally hold ourselves back sometimes... it's almost like a strange self sabotage and we all must make sure we're not doing it!!!

Below are a few random photos I pulled from my instagram of things I been up to lately.

Over the weekend I went to GoldSpike which is one of my favorite places to go and hangout in Vegas. I played tons of beer pong with people and was totally killing it ha ha good times.

Slip & Slide. Weekend shenanigans with @prrtylilly 🐧🐧

Not really sure why I featured this photo. I like photographing pretty things and yummy drinks.

I made this bookmark of one of the chihuahua characters I created for one of my coworkers. She loves it.  I call him Chico Suave.  You'll be seeing some of my cute cartoons on Etsy soon.

Girls night with my ladies Jasmin and Sunny. We had yummy noodles at Itsy Bitsy and caught up.

Love this new red lip I purchased from NYX cosmetics.

I started reading The Manual Of The Warrior Of The Light and It's Very Good. I definitely recommend it.

Margarita mamasita.

I work at g Aveda Salon and spa at Downtown Summerlin and I love this Juice shop Nekter over there. The juices are soooo yummy.

Here are a cute pair of computer glasses I purchased recently. They have tinted lenses that protect me from UV lights.
Focusing on balance.

Photo booth fun with my friend Lily.

Can't wait to play with these NYX cosmetics colors I purchased. I have a fun tutorial in mind coming soon.

Hello Nubians,

I think it's my adventure, my trip, my journey, and I guess my attitude is, let the chips fall where they may.
-Leonard Nimoy

(Wearing Mishka NYC hat, Ash Sneaker Wedges, Pants from Lucky Brand, Sweater from ROSS)

The weather has been beautiful lately in Las Vegas, Nevada. It's been in the 70's everyday which I consider perfect weather. The kind of weather where you can wear a light sweater but you can also sport a skirt if you choose.

As some of you may know, I moved to Las Vegas from NY a little over a year and a half now. I wasn't sure how long I would stay at first so I kept freelancing. I'm pleased to say I finally set some roots down and have my first job in Las Vegas as the Social Media Coordinator for the Aveda Institute Las Vegas and the g Aveda Salon & Spa in Downtown Summerlin.

I feel very grateful because I'm surrounded by a great team of people and the Aveda brand is in the realm of beauty & wellness which I am already obsessed with. I've learned so much more about the brand since I started my job a few weeks back. I love how Aveda is not just any other hair & beauty brand but they're really trying to change the world with their mission. They're very genuine about it and it's very much the daily lifestyle. It's all very inspiring and beautiful. I'm sure I will be randomly blogging about Aveda more because I admire the brand.

Being at the Aveda Institute is always fun and fulfilling because all the students are so excited and happy to start their journey. It's magic!!! The g Aveda Salon & Spa in Downtown Summerlin is lovely too! A great place to relax and the stylist are fabulous. Downtown Summerlin is also a fabulous place to go and get away for a while and enjoy some serious retail therapy.

(Photo from a recent Aveda campaign I think is rad.)

Pretty Green!

Besides my grand news (woohoo) I had a nice and casual weekend. I caught up on some work, saw a fashion show, worked on some art, and well... life has been pretty swell.

I hope you all had a nice weekend! Muah!
