Horror fanatics all over were leaping for joy when Universal Pictures revealed they would release two Halloween sequels "Halloween Kills" on October 16, 2020, and "Halloween Ends" on October 15, 2021. Last years Halloween movie was a direct sequel to John Carpenter's original 1978 film. Carpenter returned to executive produce and composed the score for "Halloween." Speaking of composing, that's what this post is about. I love John Carpenter tracks and often feel that his musical skills are overlooked.

Hey Nubians,

I Love, Love, Love, Music!

As a writer and a creative enthusiast that dabbles in many art forms, music is one of the things that moves me deeply. The rhythm, beats & more importantly the lyrics speak to my soul. Music has been with me through the best of times and the worst of times. Have you ever felt like a song gets released just when you need it the most? The lyrics match your situation perfectly and you just keep replaying it over and over because it gives you goosebumps and you slowly start to feel tiny little hairs on your arms rise? Well, me too! It's almost like a hidden message that reminds me I'm not alone in my feelings if there are other people writing about it too.

I haven't been listening to new music that much lately. I do, but just not too much. I'll be posting which songs I've been playing a lot lately and telling you why. Lately, I've been on a bit of an oldies binge. In my own personal opinion, music was a lot more perky, simplistic, and positive anywhere from the 50s to early 90s. But as I said prior, this is my own personal opinion. I'm sure there are tons and tons of underground artists I haven't been listing to lately that are hidden gems.

Anyway... Here we go! This is what I've been jamming to this week.

The Beach Boys: Kokomo

Gosh, when I hear this song I just want to pick up a Piña Colada and go lay under a palm tree somewhere. Kokomo was written by John Phillips (Lead Singer of the Mamas and Papas which I also enjoy listening to), Scott McKenzie, Mike Love, and Terry Melcher (Which was a target of the Mason Family who luckily went unharmed). This soothing song was performed by The Beach Boys. It was released July 18,1988.

Fun Fact: A lot of people don't know that "Kokomo" in this song is not a real place. There are a lot of places called "Kokomo" around the world, but none of them is located off the Florida Keys.

I've been particularly enjoying this classic song lately because I've been thinking of traveling around the end of this year and the majority of next year hopefully. Listening to this song and all of the places it mentions such as Aruba, Jamaica, Bermuda, Bahama, Key Largo, Montego, gets me super excited and inspired. A lot of people get annoyed by this song but you have to take it for what it is, just a short song with a catchy hook that's meant to make people happy. Imagine myself on an island with my fiance enjoying life just as we did in Kona, Hawaii late last year.

Favorite Lyric: Oh I want to take you down to Kokomo, we'll get there fast and then we'll take it slow.

Coldplay: Adventure of a Lifetime.

I could listen to almost any Coldplay song and lose myself. He is a top-notch performer and amazing artist. Adventure of a Lifetime was written by Chris Martin along with Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion, Mikkel S. Eriksen, and Tor Erik Hermansen. It was released November 6, 2015.

This song not only has beautiful composition but its lyrics are very inspiring. To me, the song represents a journey where you find your own magic and path through life. It's a very addicting song you'll want to listen to over and over again.

Favorite Lyric: We are legends every day that’s what she told me.

The Archies - Sugar, Sugar.

I've totally been on an Archie Comics binge lately. I've been reading the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, watching Riverdale and even rewatching some of the old Sabrina The Teenage Witch episodes on Hulu when I'm bored at night and want to fall asleep to something. Great fashion on that show too by the way. "Sugar, Sugar" is a great little song written by written by Jeff Barry and Andy Kim.  It gets you in the mood of celebrating crushing on someone and being in love. It compares wanting someone as bad as you may want something sweet like Candy. The song was released May 24, 1969, and recorded by the virtual band the Archies. This girl is never too old for some bubblegum pop!

Favorite Lyric: I just can't believe the loveliness of loving you.

What songs are moving your soul this week? Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

I love a good mix of tech and fashion. My brother Dean went to CES (Consumers Electronics Show) in Las Vegas last week and he had a lot of fun exploring and playing with different, innovative technology. He sent me tons of photographs and information, but one thing that really caught my eye for its simplicity and convenience is 'Wraps Wristbands Headphones'.

C'mon Barbie, Let's Go Party!

Kali Uchis makes Colombian gals like me proud. I actually heard of Kali Uchis at first because I think my brother might be in love with her ha ha, I think she's super cool though.

The singer/songwriter is starring in a new campaign for Barbie by Sophia Webster shoes. Both women and kids can rock the collection, it includes sneakers, sandals and stiletto's. The collection was created to celebrate Barbie wearing flat shoes for the first time!!! Say What? Usually I would oppose to such things because growing up, Barbie was the illusion of a perfect woman for me... ya know... pretty hair, the perfect dresses and wardrobe, cute body with the tinniest almost impossible waist, and always a sick pair of pumps! But throughout the years and thanks to the media, we already have wayyyyy too many close to impossible goals for women. I think it's a breath of fresh air to see Barbie being normalized a bit and be seen more like an every day women in a pair of hightop sneakers. Amen y'all!

These butterfly stilettos give me total 90s nostalgia... I want!

The collection launches in Selfridges London and is online right now at sophiawebster.com. The collaboration is a continuation of the Barbie Fashionista campaign, which celebrates diversity with 23 new dolls, featuring 14 different facial sculpts, 8 skin tones, 18 eye colors, 22 hair styles, and 23 hair colors. I think it's a great message of positivity for the youth, especially young girls to make Barbie seem more approachable. We're living in a world were young teenagers are getting crazy unnecessary surgeries such as lip and butt implants for vanity and to feel beautiful. I know this sounds super corny right now, but beauty comes from within. You have to work with what you have. Having a big ass, tits, and a pair of heels on doesn't automatically make you beautiful. All races and colors are beautiful too! Get with it ladies! It's cool that the Barbie brand wants to celebrate diversity because so many young girls are obsessed with their dolls. Now maybe the dolls will look more like them.

The Barbie x Sophia Webster shoes can range anywhere from $150 to about $500. It is a special collection however, so if this is your kind of thing and you're looking for quality, I think it's worth it.

The designer said: "Creating a shoe collection for Barbie has always been my dream project, but getting to be a part of her embracing flats for the first time made it extra exciting, and deeply personal. I love that this concept strikes a balance between dreams and reality - the idea of getting Barbie in some hi-tops and setting her loose in East London instantly appealed."

Dope bags too!

What do you think of the collection? Think you'll get your hands on any of these items soon?

Make sure to follow Sophia Webster and Kali Uchis on Instagram for more updates and random cool stuff.

Lastly, for your viewing pleasure... Check out the Kali Uchis "Loner" music video.  Take in the cool beat, her soothing voice, and more of her sick, pretty in pink style in the dreamy video.

Cheers my darlings!

Hello Beautiful Nubians!

Celebrate Michael Jackson's Birthday With Cirque Du Soleil In Las Vegas.

Though it's always sad to think about Michael Jackson passing away, I think the best way to honor him is to celebrate his memory. I used to be very enchanted with him and I still am really. His music was touch, his dance moves were mesmerizing. He was a creative genius and was always reinventing himself. I hear from many interviews he was quite the perfectionist.

Also, his fashion sense was insane! He had a huge influence in the fashion world and was always trend setting. From crazy funky prints, his infamous red leather jacket, the fedora, space fashion, sparkly attire, zippers, buckles, chains, sharp suits, armor and much, much more. Till this day celebrities such as Rihanna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown, Taylor Swift and more pay homage to his style.

As some of you may know, Cirque du Soleil has the very popular Michael Jackson "ONE' show. To celebrate his birthday this Saturday, August 29th they will have all day festivities! Amazing right? If you're in town, you'll definitely want to get your hands on some tickets HERE. The daily festivities are as follows:

WHAT: Michael Jackson ONE and the Estate of Michael Jackson invite guests to celebrate the legendary King of Pop as they host the annual Michael Jackson birthday party at the Michael Jackson ONE Theatre inside Mandalay Bay on August 29 with special activities and a once in a lifetime performance.
  • This year, the main attraction of this highly anticipated event, which historically draws fans from all over the world, will be a special presentation by members of the cast of Michael Jackson ONE, created especially for the fans attending this year’s celebration.  The performance begins with a one-time only performance to Michael’s #1 hit “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” which is not part of the regular Michael Jackson ONE show.
  • This will be followed by a preview of two acts from the show - “Stranger In Moscow” and “Thriller”, consistently a crowd and critics favorite.
  • And kicking off the afternoon will be a book signing hosted at the Michael Jackson ONE Boutique for Jackson’s longtime costume designer, Michael Bush.
  • There will also be a short Q&A with select cast members from the show after the special performance.
  • Ticket holders will also have the opportunity to meet members of the Estate team and their invited guests, including Michael Jackson ONE choreographers, Rich & Tone Talauega and Travis Payne, as everyone enjoys a celebratory birthday cake.
Ticket holders for both performances on Aug. 29 are invited to join in all of the afternoon’s festivities. Guests who are interested in attending these events can purchase tickets at cirquedusoleil.com/mjbday.

WHO: Cast members from Michael Jackson ONE; choreographers Rich & Tone Talauega and Travis Payne; Co-Executor of the Estate of Michael Jackson, John Branca; and Michael Bush, author of The King of Style: Dressing Michael Jackson

WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 29
3:30 p.m. - Book signing with Michael Bush

Zendaya Coleman has swag!

It's hard to believe Zendaya Coleman is only 18 years old. She quite the smart cookie. I first saw her on Disney and then on red carpets taking calculated risk. I think she has sick style and is totally drop dead gorgeous. She reminds me a lot of Aaliyah in a sense that she dresses like a tom boy a lot but is still effortlessly sexy.

Zendaya recently teased about her shoe collection "Daya" on her instagram and decided to debut it at the FN Platform at MAGIC in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

'“The kind of women we’re targeting are real women [who] want a good shoe they can wear to their job interviews, but still be stylish and not break the bank,” Zendaya told People. “But it’s not like that typical look for less. No, these are dope shoes and you don’t have to spend three years trying to buy them.”

I love how the collection looks so colorful! Bright pink, blue and teal. She also promised they're comfortable and that she will keep them under $225. The collection includes boots, caged sandals, pumps, sneakers, and more. The shoes will be available to purchase in 2016.

I Can't wait to see more bold career moves from this young lady! I hear she's dropping an LP soon and has been working with one of my favorite producers Timbaland! Dope stuff.

What A Beautiful Babe!

A few years back Demi Lovato went through some personal struggles very publicly because she's a celebrity and always under a microscope. While most people get to deal with these problems privately, Demi's problems were aired out to the world. Issues such as bulimia, drug abuse, self-harm and depression landed her in rehab in 2010. I think many young women in her position would have let all of this consume them, but she has risen like a phoenix out of the ashes!

On all her social channels Demi is super encouraging to her fans and always talks about positivity and shares her journey with you on how she's been becoming healthy and happy since her visit to rehab 5 years ago. The reason I'm even talking about this is because I THINK SHE FUCKING ROCKS. You can tell SooOooOOo much how confident she is in her video. She looks gorgeous! Girl is glowing. I think she is a true role model for dealing with what most deal with behind closed doors and getting help and coming out a true winner. #GetEmGirl

The song "Cool For The Summer" is super catchy and a great Summer song to blast anywhere. It's a flirty song to dedicate to your crush or boy toy. Demi Lovato looks sexy and badass. In the video she's sporting items such as a cut out bra, leather, thigh high gladiators, slick hair, smokey eyes and more. She nailed the strong female, borderline dominatrix look. I've always enjoyed watching what she wears and how she styles herself, she's pretty daring. Most importantly, Demi looks happy and free. Neon and fun bright colors, watch the video below.

I'm all about girl power and people inspiring others. Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

Have you guys seen the latest Melanie Martinez music video "Pity Party"?

I love her music and her fun fashion sense, which I sort of think is a reflection of what she shows in her music. Her style is cute as is she, but it's also manages to have a dark, sexy and mysterious flair. It's almost like she's a sweet little twisted Alice in Wonderland in the most fabulous way. She styles herself like a life size doll sometimes with a little retro/vintage touch. You'll always catch her wearing charming dresses with pleats, peter pan collars, ruffles, lace, pink, and more. Plus I'm totally digging the half and half hair she's always been rocking even since I saw her in The Voice. She's consistently changing colors from purple, blonde, blue and more. She's super fun and her music is raw and authentic. Melanie Martinez has won me over and I think she's a great example for girls and young women to be themselves.

I remember when I first started liking her a lot when she was a contestant on The Voice. Seems like ages ago and it's so nice to see her continue going strong with her music and videos. I was so happy when her song got picked up for American Horror Story and to hear of her success with "The Dollhouse EP."

Her new album "Cry Baby" arrives everywhere on August 14th. Check out the first single from the album and it's video "Pity Party". It looks like she had so much fun making it.

"Maybe it's a cruel joke on me
Whatever, whatever
Just means there's way more cake for me
Forever, forever"

This is a song a lot of people may be able to relate too. We've all given ourselves a Pity Party at one point or another.

Hey Nubians!

Have we all seen the Ciara 'I Bet' video? Well if you haven't, you should right now! She's looks absolutely stunning.

I'm so glad to see Ciara back in the music scene first and foremost, I'm guessing she took a of time off to be a good mommy to her cute baby. I always thought she was so talented and enjoyed seeing her dance.

'I Bet' is the perfect song for anyone going through a breakup, with lyrics like:

"I bet you start loving me
As soon as I start loving someone else
Somebody better than you
I bet you start needing me
As soon as you see me with someone else
Somebody other than you"

Take that Future! Sorry I don't support unfaithful men (Not Sorry). It's an awesome revenge song too FYI.

The video is absolutely gorgeous and she does a good job mixing the grace and elegance of ballet with the swag of R&B. I like the simplicity in her outfits too.... either all black, or all white or off white. It fits the vibe of the video perfectly. And can we talk about her hair here!? The slow motion parts of the video where she gets to show off her long locks is mesmerizing.

And lastly...

Let's talk about her body!!! This woman has a baby and looks spectacular. You can instantly tell she works out so much too. If she is't one already, you should add her to your fitness goals list pronto!

Watch the video below and let me know what you think, enjoy!

Hey Nubians,

Have you guys seen the latest from Harper's Bazaar March 2015 photographed by Norman Jean Roy? It's about cover girl and public bad ass Rihanna! And well she's sharing the cover with a shark.

Whoa. I kind of love it. Rihanna's been known to live life on the edge and now she's literally swimming with the sharks.

I always get into all things shark. I recently even re-watched 'Jaws' and we all know what a classic that is. This shoot was actually inspired by the 40th anniversary of the 'Jaws' film.

There's Shark Week every year which is always rad and now more recently, we have all the hype with the hilarious Super Bowl shark craze... sharks always seems to find a way in the spotlight.

Anyways , check out this enticing behind the scenes video of Rihanna's "Killer Fashion" for Harper's Bazaar. It gave me goosebumps seeing her with those sharks eeeekkkkk!

Hello Nubians,

I found this cute little shop while browsing on instagram that I just had to share with you all! As a lover of most things pop culture or cult oddities, my jaw immediately dropped when I saw these accessories. Let me introduce you to Night Owl Designs.

Ever watch a movie or show, hear a song or play a video game that just sticks with you forever? A girly girl that loved Alicia Silverstone in Clueless or a Comic Book Geek that enjoys a little snooch to the nooch with Jay and Silent Bob? Ever stay up late nights watching Nick at Nite and being glued watching marathons of The Adams Family, The Wonder Years, The Cosby's, Rosanne, etc? Ever go crazy staying up late nights trying to beat Super Mario Brothers? You can see where I'm going with this. All of the above was pretty much my childhood.

Night Owl Designs takes popular characters or celebrities and puts them on earrings, necklaces and more. The accessories are very modestly priced starting at about $8.00 for a pair of earrings you won't find just anywhere. From what I read on the site the charms are made from ink jet shrink film and coated in acrylic for added durability. Ear wires are surgical steel and jump rings are base metal. Light, Fun and I bet they would absolutely be conversation starters.

You can find nostalgic accessories from characters such as Bevis and Butthead, Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer, Beastie Boys, Wizard of Oz, The Breakfast Club  and SO MUCH MORE.  I am completely  obsessed with what this designer is doing because to me, everything I see on the site is a classic and takes me back to a very happy place in my life.

Below check out some of my favorites from Night Owl Designs and make sure to visit their website and follow their social networks Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook. There's so much more to see.

 David Bowie Earrings.

Princess Buttercup and Wesley from The Princess Bride.
