It's that time of the year! All any of us could think of is the warmth, fashion, and beauty that will arrive with the Spring season. I can't wait for light jackets, cropped tops, long skirts, and tons of floral designs. Being able to have brunch while sitting outside sounds like a treat. Being able to lay on the grass with your shoes off while enjoying some music or a great novel sounds like a dream too. Spring also inspires creativity. Create some art and make magic happen.

Because Everyone Deserves To Be Respected.

I can't think of a better day for Double Denim. Today, April 25th is Denim Day. It's a great day to wear jeans with a purpose, support survivors, and educate yourself and others about sexual assault.

Too many women have been sexually assaulted one way or another and it's very, very far from ok. It is NEVER ok.

Hey Nubians,

"Art Is The Ultimate Way To Express What You're Feeling And Dreaming Of."

Who doesn't love art? Art can be considered a variety of different creative outlets. Many people consider fashion and their way of styling an artform. It expresses how they feel and showcases it to those around them. Others consider dance or theatre their art form. Of course, there is always drawing and painting. I LOVE to draw. I wouldn't consider myself one of the greats, but I enjoy it and it helps ease my mind. I am fascinated with murals and street art. The idea of completing a well thought out mural is probably somewhere on my bucket list. I admire artist with such vision and dedication who put their masterpieces together in the middle of the day while random strangers stroll by and just stare at them... I would assume it's not a distraction to a focused well focused and determined mind.

Hey Nubians,

I Don't Want To Grow Up.

I love putting outfits together that look like they don't make sense. This outfit for example, a sporty Sanrio Hello Kitty light jacket, A long thrifted glitter skirt, a backwards DC Comics Wonder Woman baseball cap and a pair of H&M boot heels. Many people might not think this ensemble works but I totally dig it. It's always been a thing I do. I belong to the world of print mixers and color blockers. I take joy in the unconventional and encourage others to always think out the box and have fun. Be confident! I follow many bloggers who dress fun and spontaneously. It doesn't always have to be too crazy but I like to push traditional boundaries a bit. Fashion is suppose to be fun after all.

Hey Nubians,

Add A Little Sass To Your Style.

Gorgeous and full of attitude, I think I was channeling my inner Cry-Baby's Wanda Woodward with this fashion outfit. It isn't exactly a pinup or rockabilly outfit, but I think I gave it a bit of a modern twist and mixed the look more with every day wear like my tee for example. You also have to consider the winged eye liner and kick ass faux leather jacket I'm rocking which ties back to my Wanda Woodward reference. I love encouraging fun fashion and the use of color therapy. A little bit of sassiness on top of everything doesn't hurt either.

Hello Nubians,

Tis The Season To Be Jolly And Wear Lot's Of Red Outfits! Fa, la, la, la, la!

I love wearing red during the Holiday Season! I think I always have ever since I was a young little Nubia. It makes me happy and jolly and improves my mood... you know, color therapy and all. Red holiday sweaters, dresses, denim etc.

My brother gifted me with THIS 'Holiday Burger Run' sweater from Threadless by artist Zach Forer. I'm smitten with it and it's kind of become this special article of clothing for me now because he gifted me with this tee a few years back...

Hey Nubians,

A Fashion Blogger is Fashion Blogging to Review A Comic Book About a Fashion Blogger... Fathom That!

This past weekend I was just being my cute & cool little self when my brother messaged me on Facebook to see if I'd heard about the new Snotgirl comic book written by Bryan Lee O'Malley (Creator of Scott Pilgrim which I very much enjoyed). Lately I have read a few random comicbooks, but I haven't dedicated myself to a series in quite some time. My brother thought it would interest me because it's about a Fashion Blogger! Being a geek girl/fashionista & beauty blogger this immediately caught my interest.

I used my fabulous teleporting powers (or my PT Cruiser, whatever) and found myself at Alternate Reality Comics on Maryland Parkway here in Las Vegas. It's the comic book shop that's closest to me and the owner is cool as hell. If you haven't been and you're in Vegas please do check them out. They have a pretty interesting story too.

I quickly found Snotgirl and guess what?! I just finished reading it about 5 minutes before I decided to write this post. The had 2 covers available and I ended up buying the one on the left. So here's the verdict...

The main character of the comic is called Lottie Person. She is a beautiful fashion blogger and social media star that I would say has a few self esteem issues. This is a bit of a dark comedy. She struggles with maintaining real relationships as opposed to the ones she has via social media on twitter/facebook and so on. I could tell that her character feels a huge emptiness in her life because she has perhaps built too much of a following online and not enough genuine relationships. She doesn't have a best friend and spends all day on her phone taking selfies and having group chats with other bloggers.

One of the things she's very insecure about is her allergies... hence the name 'Snotgirl'. She doesn't like how her allergies make her appear and wouldn't dream of taking a photo in those conditions. She tends to hide from people when she's like this and takes this matter very seriously. I'm going to guess this serves as some sort of metaphor in the comic about how she's being over sensitive about appearances and perhaps about how sometimes we may be a bit vain about looks... basically being snotty = snotgirl. Well played. This is what it means to me for now at least unless it evolves into something else in the story.

I predict that because of Lottie's insecurities this comic is going to have a bit of a dark side and some mystery and a blogger feud. There was a bit of a cliff hanger/twist at the end of this first issue which is always fun and leaves you wanting more.

Lottie is likable for now and has a few friends that seem really into themselves and one that's kind of cool. I'm excited to pick up the next issue as I've decided to keep on reading it. It looks like a promising series and with me being a fashion blogger I'm curious to see how O'Malley will portray us ( I'll still be a fan!).

(photo above so you can preview a bit of the books color story, art, outfits, hair, makeup, etc.)

I loved the art work in the book by Leslie Hung. It's chic, girly, and detailed. I'm also a fan of the pastel color story. From head to toe it's pretty dreamy. I think I already want some of the outfits and accessories she drew in the first issue. She has the fashion blogging world down pretty solid. From the poses I saw (we're pretty known for those), to the hair colors/cuts, big eyelashes, neck chokers, fluffy shoes, literally everything. I think she's doing a fantastic job. It's very lady like and I'm pretty positive it would remind you of a blogger or 2 you follow.

Do I relate to Lottie?

This was one of the main reasons I picked up the book. I think I can relate to her in some ways. When I first started blogging it was hard for me to make time for both real life relationships and online ones... I think I have a nice balance now. It can be overwhelming and tiring. It's also very easy to feel insecure when you're taking photos all the time. I have had people call my ugly, fat, stupid, I'll never forget the day a stranger (internet troll) commented on one of my post saying 'I wish you die' for no damn reason! It can really get in your head and be intense at times. I can surely relate to anxiety issues.

I wonder if O'Malley plans to talk about fashion blogging in a positive light. I have built a lot of solid friendships through blogging and a great support system. Friends that through time have helped me with personal issues as well as in my career. I also have inspired a lot of young women in a lot of different ways who have gone out of their way to tell me I have helped them be more confident or I've made their day better among a few things.

I'm also SUPER excited for some sort of villain to develop! Please tell me there's a mastermind, backstabbing villain coming! I once was the community manger for a mentorship type of website of over 50,000 bloggers and let me tell you something buddy, there's no shortage of blogging villains out there! I would probably serve as a great consultant.

Anyways...

I recommend the book. I think it would make a great gift to anyone who enjoys comics, fashion & beauty as well as social media.

A little look inside of Alternate Reality Comics.

You know I had to add a few outfit photod in here right? I am a fashion blogger after all. I'm very casually dressed in a dope pair of statement sneakers by New Balance, Comfy Cargos from ROSS, Top from H&M and my orange lip is NYX.

Nala Says Hi.

Till next time! Let me know if you pick up Snotgirl and what you think.

Cheers!

Hello Nubians,

“Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.” ― Anne Frank

Wearing Report booties, Forever 21 overalls, Sweater from ROSS, Tank top from H&M

Lately I've been spending a lot of ME time. I think every so often we should all do it. Kind of hibernate from the world a little and find inner peace. I've been working on a lot of projects, enjoying nature, working on my blog, working out, and focusing on bettering myself and being happy. However, I still like to get dressed up! I love doing my hair, makeup, getting dressed, and looking stylish every day.

On another note, I'm smitten with neutral colored makeup. I've been obsessed with eyeshadows that are red and almost like a burnt orange. Those color tones are so beautiful to me especially during this time of the year.

Tribal designs are never out of trend either... at least not for me.

Crunch, crunch, crunch.

Remember to always get up, get dressed, and be the best you that you can be every single day. It may sound a little cliche or I may sound like an instagram quote ha ha but it's true.

I'm Looking forward to the first few months and everything this new year will bring. How are you guys doing? What's new?

Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

Awesome friends give awesome gifts!

Never fear! I am here to give you some great gift ideas for your beautiful friends this holiday season. From dresses, shoes, purses, makeup and more. I think we've all been hearing the christmas bells ringing.

I think the secret to giving fabulous gifts is to get a bit personal. You have to know what kind of style your friend rocks, what does she watch on TV?, What does she like to read? What does she do on the weekends? This way you can get a vibe of things your friend will enjoy that are a bit out of the ordinary.

Below I have made a gift guide that matches my characteristics a bit that some of your friends might have too! Fun, bright, nostalgic, geeky, outgoing, and peaceful. Something for every occasion.

This fringe dress speaks volumes. It's stunning and would be perfect for New Years Eve. You can find it at Asos HERE.

Even though I like to be fun and bright ,I'm loving the minimal design of this Polaroid Snap Instant Digital Camera .  This is a great gift for anyone because it's small and prints cool photos right away. Check out this fun Polaroid camera on Amazon HERE.
This Novelty Eye Mini Zip Purse from TopShop is so kawaii. It's something fun to throw in a bigger purse and carry your money in. Check it out HERE.

I love foxes! When I saw this adorable scarf from ModCloth I immediately knew it would make the cutest gift. It looks pretty warm too and of course is cruelty free. Check it out HERE.

Everyday is a good day to feel like a Queen and wear your crown. I love this gla.MAR.ous royal beanie. The hot pink color will make any outfit pop and the detail on the crown is so pretty! Check it out HERE.
You may have seen ColourPop all over YouTube lately, they have some beautiful matte lip colors. I thought this was a very nice starter kit of lip colors for only $20. Times Square- muted pink beige, Bianca- soft dusty pink, Be Merry- mid-tone true warm pink, Glitter- rich red- violet, Last Dance- true brick red. The colors are gorgeous! Check them out HERE.

I am a HUGE horror movie fan. I've also been getting more and more into cooking. I thought this apron with characters such as Dracula, Wolf Man, Mummy, and Frankenstein so sick! I love the polkadots and retro flair too. This looks like so much fun to wear in the kitchen. I might have to buy it for myself soon. Check it out HERE.

Every girl needs a nice boot selection. These silver ones from H&M reminded me of outer space! Check them out HERE.

This Ghostbusters Stay Puft Marshmallow Face Mug from Think Geek is another must have for the kitchen. My favorite thing about it is how it features both the nice and evil side. I wouldn't mind sipping some coffee or tea out of this. Check it out HERE.

If you love DC Comics and Pinup Girls, this would be a sassy addition to your robe collection. This Batgirl robe from the DC Bombshells series is available HERE.

Here's something for everyone. I've been absolutely obsessed with loose tea leaves lately. I used to always go to Teavana but recently one of my friends introduced me to David's Tea and I've become quite the customer. It's a bit more affordable and has an out of this world selection of delicious teas. They have very nice tea sets too. Check it out HERE.
Last on the list for today, is this Betsey Johnson telephone purse. The phone purse is very charming and also features a retro phone headset that plugs into any cell phone. My favorite part about it! Check it out HERE.

Cheers!

Tis The Season...

Lately when I'm home, I've been all about relaxing and looking for peace of mind. I love to dim all the lights, burn a candle, drink some tea, turn on my tree and hang with my boyfriend and 2 chihuahuas (Bambi and Nala). Something about Thanksgiving and Christmas really brings me at ease and constantly reminds me to enjoy the simple things in life and be grateful. I find myself making more art too and getting more crafty.

I also like to dress festive during the holidays too. Being the little fashionista that I am, I love a good theme. I wear a lot of reds, greens, and enjoy having holiday sweaters laying around my closet ready to wear. Below I'm wearing a Star Wars holiday sweater I purchased this year from Target. It feeds my geek girl needs and is also hella cute! Can't wait to watch STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS!!! The time is near.

Wearing Star Wars holiday sweater for Target, Zara leggings, Cole Hann peep toed pumps.

What do you like doing to enjoy the holiday season?

Cheers!

Hello Nubians,

Kiko Mizuhara For Nylon Japan January 2016 is like the 90s come back to life with a slight touch of modern day edge. The shimmery turtle neck, zebra print, high waisted skirts, knee highs, plaid, and just the colors in general are fantastic. So much fun! Styling this shoot must have felt like a day at the playground. The outfits are crazy, sexy, cool. Fashion gals will surely enjoy this. The emojis make it cute too.

The hair is super kawaii with multiple shimmery hair ties and multiple clips worn together at once. The makeup is simple which is good with everything going on in the outfit, just a bit of eye shadow to top everything off. I love the 90s so I find this editorial very inspiring and I'd love to rock outfits like these when Spring 2016 arrives. I even made a 90s video on my YouTube before but it's for hair and makeup and it's a bit more dark and grunge.

Anyways, enjoy the editorial!
