My New York Comic Con Ghost Rider Cosplay Was Epic!

You might be asking yourself how this cosplay costume came to be... well let me take you on a little journey. It all started out with this young lad in the photo above with me, my big brother Daniel. Every year I attend New York Comic Con I cosplay different characters, I told him to pick one for me to do this year. He replied back with Marvel's Ghost Rider. I'm familiar with the Ghost Rider back story and all but it's not like I was a crazy super fan or anything. My immediate reaction was "Be Realistic" How am I going to get those flames going? I didn't want to use plastic or foam because I didn't like the way it looked. He stuck to his guns though with Ghost Rider AKA Johnny Blaze, so I decided to figure it out.

Enter this young lady below, My sister in law Kaori.

Hair

Cool kid ain't she? Besides being my sister in law (married to my other brother Dean) she's a woman of many talents. She has a beauty license from Japan and can do awesome things with hair. Kaori suggested I try to do fire hair! I must admit, I wasn't very confident at first but she painted a pretty picture and I figured anything is better than foam. I purchased a regular wig with the colors orange and red, the one below to be exact.

After Kaori applied her imagination and unique set of skills to the hair, she turned this regular synthetic wig into THIS.

I was BLOWN AWAY and highly impressed. It was everything I wanted and more. If you're wondering, there's nothing inside of the wig holding the hair up...  all hair, molding, and layering. It's a work of art.  If you ever need a wig or your natural hair done for cosplay or any special event, you should reach out to Kaori at [email protected] or [email protected]. I promise you, you wont find a lot of people that can do what she does in the time she does it. The was the center piece of the Ghost Rider cosplay and a VERY important part of the character.

Outfit

After I got my main concern out of the way which was the flames, I still had to make the outfit and makeup look good. For the outfit I started out checking what I had in my own home (This should be your first step for any cosplay, you'd be surprised). I was about to throw out this faux leather jacket I purchased at H&M a few years back because it was peeling. I'm so happy I didn't because it was perfect for my Ghost Rider cosplay. I also figured the peeling could look like pieces of the jacket were burned through so I didn't worry about that. I went to a few trim stores in Manhattan and picked up a handful of spikes to add on the shoulders of the jacket. I also found the chain at a trim store because I decided to not use aluminum or plastic. The chain ran me about $20. I already had a pair of Dr Marten boots because well... every fashionista does. I was hunting for a pair of faux leather pants but I couldn't find them anywhere surprisingly. I walked into Walmart and found a pair of leather leggings that looked like pants for about $12. I purchased medium instead of small because I didn't want them to look skin tight... I wanted them to look masculine and have a bit more of edge to them. Lastly, the gloves I found at a random little gift shop for 5 dollars.

Makeup

After the clothing was settled, the day I wore the cosplay I had to wake up a bit early to do my makeup. It's not that hard BUT I didn't use stage makeup so it was a bit annoying to layer. I purchased some regular Halloween makeup from Walgreens and I had to do a few layers to get the white face paint looking bold and evened out. I recommend putting on your regular primer and/or foundation under first for quicker results before applying the makeup. Before I started looking evil I looked like a Panda! Haha it was kind of funny. After searching the web for images, I took a little inspiration from everything and ended up looking like this. I think it came out nicely.

After the makeup was done, I applied the wig which was definitely the WOW factor and BAM! (Emeril Lagasse voice) my 2015 New York Comic Con Ghost Rider cosplay was done.

I had so much fun at the convention this year. This might be my favorite cosplay look I've done yet. The hair, makeup and outfit are all on point. The reactions I got on this look were amazing! I think this cosplay finally beat out my X-Men The White Queen from a few years back (which was pretty popular). I would absolutely wear this again. Not to mention it's probably the most comfortable look I've done. No heels or exposing too much flesh. The impact this had on people even left me surprised. I was very pleased. I took photos with a lot of people and had a lot of photos taken of me too.

Ghost Riders Meet.

Ghost Rider and The Joker.

Who knew Ghost Rider likes dogs.

Behind the scenes.

I guess there's a lot you can take from this post. Like always, life will show you anything is possible. I know it sounds silly to say something like that about a costume, BUT my first reaction when my brother mentioned it was something along the lines of "Get real, I can't make that look good or legit" and now I think it's my favorite cosplay I've done. There you have it kids, Cheers!

Hello My Beautiful Nubian Queens!

I love Korean Beauty Products!!!

Panda Selfie Time! Heyyyyy.

Korean beauty products are so unique compared to some of the stuff I buy on the regular. I mean... don't get me wrong, I love my American products, but that damn Korean packaging is soooo cute! Not to mention the products are great for your skin too. If you roam the web you'll see rave reviews. One of my favorite Korean beauty brands is Tony Moly which you can find at Urban Outfitters,

Anyway, I always talk about the importance of skincare. I saw these SNP Animal Face Mask online and I couldn't resist! I had to try them.

Each facial mask serves a different purpose. You'll see here there's whitening, soothing, wrinkle and a aqua mask. There's also a variety of animals: Panda, Dragon, Otter and Tiger. I decided to try out the panda whitening mask because I thought it would be good to even out small skin imperfections and well also... because I love pandas and really wanted to see the mask on! The whitening mask focuses on restoring dull and rough skin with brightening energy, luminosity and softness.

Watch my first impressions video review below and make sure to subscribe to my channel to see more randomness HERE.

I think these SNP Animal Mask would make great stocking stuffers and cute gifts for your girlfriends. They also feel super nice on your skin.

Cheers!

Hello My Beautiful Nubians!

I love art and comic books and being creative. I'm very excited for New York Comic Con coming up soon (Oct 8th to be exact). In honor of that excitement, I decided to do a comic inspired makeup look! This week my inspiration is Wolverine from Marvel's X-Men. I used to always watch the cartoon Saturday mornings on Fox and I have read a few of the comic books as well. I'm actually currently reading the fairly new X-Men '92 series.

When I say comic inspired, I mean mainly the color story behind the character and perhaps some small details. Watch my video below to see how I put this look together. I used products from Wet 'N Wild beauty, L'Oréal, NYX cosmetics, BH Cosmetics brushes and more.

Also remember to visit my YouTube channel HERE and hit the "like" and "subscribe" button. Thanks for all the love!

Cheers my darlings!

Hey Nubians,

It's Mani Monday!

Last night after a bit of Spring Cleaning I decided to give myself a manicure and pedicure. My nails were fairly long but of course one of them just had to break so I cut them all... Don't you just hate that!? Anyway, I cut my nails really short and kind of improvised a few lines to make a fun little design. I decided to DIY my manicure instead of going to the salon. I actually do this pretty often to try to improve my skills. It also doesn't hurt to save a few bucks along the way/

For my base color I used Sally Hansen Velvet 640 Velour. It's a nice matte purple color. I proceeded but using LA. Colors Art Deco wands in white and silver glitter to make some lines off the top of my head and make the manicure more fun. I sealed the manicure with Sally Hansen's Gel Shine 3D Top Coat.

Hope you enjoyed the manicure! I'm going to try my best to do some weekly mani fun once a week or every other week.

Hey Nubians,

I don't make enough time for my nails sometimes! I just throw on any color and I'm done. I want to try to focus more on specific colors and detailed designs so I thought I'd start off with some fun pop art nails!

No tengo tiempo suficiente para mis uñas a veces! Me limito a usar cualquier color y estoy hecha.

I purchased some KISS Products Pop Art nail decals and I used my Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear 178 'All Bright' Pink as a base and my Sally Hansen Gel Shine 3D Top Coat to give it an extra shine. I love pop culture, cult classic movies, comics, and all cool sorts of geeky stuff.

Watch my video below to find out how quick and easy you can get this done. Also make sure to subscribe to my You Tube channel HERE.

He comprado algunas adhesivos uñas Arte Pop de KISS Products.

Hello Nubians,

Add a little life in your eye makeup this Spring/Summer with a simple eye-shadow trick. It's probably the easiest how to EVER.  I always like to highlight the bottom of my eyes with a bright and bold color using eye-shadow instead of a makeup pencil. I feel like the results last longer. In the video below I used the Wet N' Wild "Art In The Streets" palette. I hope you enjoy the video and please subscribe to NubTube HERE.

Hey Nubians,

You Like Hair? SO DO I.

Therefore I like doing fun things to my hair all the time like using Scünci Hair Chalk.

Sometimes when I don't do something new to my hair, I get overly bored which can get dangerous leading to hair-dye jobs and dry hair etc. These days I like to look for non-permanent solutions which is why I turned to hair chalk.

Find out how I got this cute cupcake/My Little Pony inspired top knot hairstyle with pink and purple pastel-ish colors by watching the video below. Subscribe to my NubTube HERE.

Hey Nubians,

It's nice to have weather where you can loosen up a bit. I think the best kind of weather you can wish for is when you're able to wear long sleeves and still show your legs without being cold = PERFECTION.

My friend Jasmin gifted me the vintage top I'm wearing which she got at Buffalo Exchange. Besides the fact that red is my favorite color, I adore the stylish gal on the top... I even have a fringe jacket similar to the one she's wearing! The fringe literally popping out the top makes it that much cooler... a great, unique find. Makes me think of Vintage Vogue.

Wearing: Vintage top from Buffalo Exchange, skirt by Hobbs, Cassette socks by Mossimo, flats by Express.

How rad are these Cassette tops? Retro vibes.

I made a fun short outfit video below. Enjoy and subscribe to my YouTube channel HERE for more.

Hello my dear Nubians!

Today is Christmas Eve and I couldn't help but thinking about what's next, NEW YEARS!! So much excitement. I was thinking about what I'm going to wear to welcome the New Year and how I'll be styling my hair and doing my makeup It has to look flawless so I don't look majorly drunk. I still have no idea what I'm wearing but when it comes to hair and makeup I came to these conclusions.

Hair and Makeup: Kick it up a Notch! Do something a little bit out of the usual. Welcoming change is good! I would suggest a unique up-do, crazy/insane curls, or jet straight hair.

Makeup: Go loud and sparkly but don't look like a clown. I usually have a "Bold lips, light eyes" policy or "Bold eyes, neutral lips" BUT you can mix them up a bit An example of something a bit fun and New Years worthy is the look below.

The hair is a bit playful, you may even say Chun Li inspired but you can totally dress is up if you wear the right accessories or dress. I'm wearing it with a lovely tear drop gla.MAR.ous headband to glam it up and Sorelli earrings.

When it comes to makeup, I decided RED LIPS. I am obsessed with red lips! When it comes to holidays or special occasions I'm usually sporting them. The color I'm wearing here is by Revlon.

For the eyes, I would usually not do much but since it's for New Years Eve we must glam it up! I did a double cat eye which gives off an egyptian beauty vibe and I used my Lisi Cosmetics silver sparkle eye liner to fill in the gap.

Besides that I did basic stuff: Bronzer, filled in brows a bit etc.

I hope this post helped out a bit and inspired you to play around with your looks. If you have any specific questions about products I used, drop a comment below.

Toodles,
