If you like playing Street Fighter, you'll love seeing the ladies of Street Fighter embrace some pin-up style and poses. Chun-Li, Sakura, C-Viper, Karin, Cammy, and Kolin are going to take a break from kicking ass and break hearts instead. I remember being a young girl and playing Street Fighter on my brothers Playstation and thinking to myself how cool it would be to be like one of these characters. Good times. I always looked up to strong women.

I have a profound love of mermaids. They are such beautiful, mystical creatures and I am smitten with mermaid art. I believe they could be absolutely real. Why not? I hope I bump into one at the beach this Summer. Think about it, humans have only managed to explore about 5% of the ocean floor. That leaves endless room for possibilities! This month I stumbled upon #MerMay on Instagram. It's an art challenge where people draw their take on mermaids all month long. May is practically over but it was fun to follow along and appreciate everyones artistic vision. I also enjoyed people mashing mermaid art up with video game and comicbook characters.

If you love video games and looking stylish, this is a sweet treat for you. Street Fighter is collaborating with UNIQLO UT to drop some Graphic T-Shirts on April or May depending on your region.

I remember playing Street Fighter with my brothers growing up and violently hitting all the buttons on the controller when I couldn't figure out the right combo for moves. It's fun being able to mix up my personal style with memories that bring me so much joy.

Hello Nubians,

This year I went to New York Comic Con for 2 days and it was a lot of fun, but guess what? I didn't cosplay! I know, I know, crazy town. But I had just gotten back from Hawaii and I felt kind of rushed and decided not to do it this year. I have to be honest, it hurt my heart a little. If you've seen my cosplay looks from New York Comic Con past, you'd know I enjoy dressing up very much. When I saw all of the amazing looks from various comicbooks, video games, cartoons, tv shows, movies, etc. and saw all the detailed craftsmanship and time people put into their costumes...I felt a little sad for myself for missing out. However, it still made me happy to be in everyones presence. I was cheering them on in a weird way being on the other side admiring. With all of the time that goes into hair, make-up, sewing, and making armor amongst other things such as role play, it's cool to be part of this community of people. I've always believed it's therapeutic embodying these characters whether you want to play the hero or villain. We all go through different phases in our life where we may be considered the good or bad guy as do many of these characters.

Another funny thing about not cosplaying this year is that I had so much more time to enjoy booths. I got to take my time actually talking to people and touching merchandise because I wasn't being stopped every 2 seconds for photos. I'm hoping to share a few cool places I stopped by later this week.

This year I noticed a lot of people were coming up with original characters too which I thought was awesome. Last year I did an original mashup of characters partnering with my friend Kaori. I dressed as DC Comics Wonder Woman & Two-Face. You could check it out here.

Ghost Rider, Rugrats, Cuphead, Lydia & Beetlejuice, a few Anime looks, a awesome DC Cosplayers meet-up and more. Enjoy the photos below.

Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

"Home Is Where The Heart Is."

I love art, fashion, comics, and pop culture. If you ever visit my home, you'll find little traces of my interest laying around or on the walls. You might find an X-Men action figure or 2 on my TV stand, a poster from an artist I like in my bedroom or living room, comics books, fashion magazines or novels decorating tables, etc. It's also nice to just have a statement piece if you don't want to over do it.

A while back I went to First Friday in Downtown Las Vegas with a few of my friends to check out the talent and enjoy some food. I bumped into The Dead Flux.

The Dead Flux is a cool company based here in Las Vegas. I fell in love especially with the comic, luchador, and Frida Khalo Lamps they had! They would look so rad as unique, stylish home decor. They also sell Jewelry, clothing, Hair Candy, Pins, & more. Below are a few of the photos I snapped. They were very friendly at the booth too!

The have an Etsy shop that you can visit HERE and the prices are very fair in my opinion. Their little tag line is  "Where Day of the dead art & comics collide!"

Here's the bio of the shop owner below:

"We're here to make awesome unique things , were tired of identical mass produced items, aren't you?

It all started with a bag.
I was 16 super punk rock and I was obsessed with leopard print, I started sewing leopard print on everything, cd cases, sweaters, pants, everything.
I made myself a shoulder bag in 2004 (That I STILL have to this day, and it still holds up like the day it was made!) someone asked me to make them one, and that was my first sale, the rest is history!

One thing that I love about the dead flux is that we are always changing, always evolving always getting better, that why i named my company the dead flux

flux
fləks/
noun
1.the action or process of flowing or flowing out.

2.continuous change.

We pride our self's in recycling, up-cycling, and repurposing, we love the idea of being able to take an item that would otherwise sit in a landfill for 450+ years.
Revamp it and vavoooom now its a freaking awesome one of a kind day of the dead lamp that you can use for your day of the dead alter, or a star wars lamp for you dads man cave, the possibilities, like our imaginations are endless."

I think what they're doing is great. Make sure you check them out and follow their social media channels where they host promotions and giveaways.

Cheers!

Valentines day is right around the corner and I have the perfect gift suggestion for your loved one, it's Man Crates.

So I know what you're thinking, what the hell is a Man Crate? Well it's kind of exactly what it sounds like. It's an awesome wooden crate that gets delivered to you with a crowbar. Let's stop for a second and think about how rad it is to open a wooden crate with a crowbar. An experience in itself. Inside it's full of awesome gifts. There's different crate options and they all come with amazing items inside that your friend or boy toy will definitely be excited about.

Some of my favorites crates are the Personalized Oktoberfest Steins, Hot & Spicy Man Crate, Exotic Meat Man Crates, Zombie Annihilation Crate, and High Roller Man Crates I could go on.

For the day of LOVE, Valentines day, I have a particular crate in mind... The Retro Gamer Crate! A gamer geeks dream.

Something about men and video games creates a beautiful nostalgia...

When I was younger my dad used to wake me and my brother up at random times of the night to play Super Mario Brother on Nintendo. I forget exactly how he learned to pay (my brother might have taught him) but he became absolutely obsessed. It was the most random thing because he never really played video games at all and then one day he just went nuts. He was obsessed with beating the game before my brother because he was "The Best". It was hilarious how much pride he took in all of it. These games often create beautiful memories and tons of bonding time if you play together.

Video games in general bring up nice positive memories. Whether it be you remembering times you met up at a friends house to play after school or just you lounging in your bedroom playing your favorite music (which you used as a motivation soundtrack surely) and blasting it while you conquered your mission in whichever game you were playing.

Video games also remind us all of simpler times.. Thinking back on when I used to play games on Nintendo, Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Playstation, etc. I would lose myself in these games without having to check my phone a million times (because there was no social media!)

Video games are a gift of LOVE ha, ha its true!

Therefore the Retro Gamer Man Crate makes a kick-ass Valentines Day Gift! I would give it to a boyfriend, A friend, a brother... ALSO, don't let the name fool you! I would totally give this to a bunch of my geek girl friends... They'd die over this.

The Retro Gamer Man Crate Includes:

Makeshift Time Machine

  • Retro-Bit NES Console
  • 2 classic Nintendo games
  • (randomly selected from an assortment of time-honored, awesome games)

Sugar Intoxication

  • Red Vines
  • Bottle Caps
  • Mike & Ike
  • Nerds
  • Now and Later
  • Jaw Busters
  • Pop Rocks
  • Pez

Delivered

In a sealed wooden crate with a laser-etched crowbar. No bow, no ribbons, no fluff, and absolutely no instructions.

Pretty sweet deal for $99.99 right? I surely think so. Look at all that candy! What's not to love.

Take your loved one back to a time before social media, before online streaming, before so much non-stop, hectic, technology coming out the woodwork... A time when it was him opening up a video game console with an awesome game and for just a moment... nothing else really mattered... THE ULTIMATE GIFT.

Happy Early Valentines Day Everyone, Cheers!
