Hey Nubians,

This dress makes you never want to STOP STARING.

If you want a dress that makes you feel absolutely sexy and beautiful without having to show so much skin all the time you must head over to Stop Staring Clothing. They have absolutely stunning vintage style dresses & retro clothing. Also, there dresses fit me like a glove and I love the silhouette they give me. You can see other Stop Staring dresses I've worn here and here.

I decided to go with a 2 piece this time instead of a 1 piece dress. I decided it added a little flirty sensation to the look. I am also completely smitten with the big flower pattern on the dress. They look like tropical flowers. Something about tropical flowers makes me smile.... they make me think of planning a beautiful vacation.

I'm looking forward to pairing the top of this vintage inspired set with another bottom sometime soon. The colors are so vibrant and gorgeous.

Wearing Cole Haan peep toed heels.

Seriously if you ever need to look glamorous for an event or just for fun, head over to Stop Staring Clothing and shop. It's one of the top 5 places I would recommend for a dress for a special occasion or some nice retro glam.

Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

I recently bumped into this video 100 Years of Fashion Under 2 Minutes by GLAM and it's absolutely amazing. In 2 minutes, they highlight top style and trends from 1915 to today.

So if you've recreates any of these looks:  Prim and proper and Coco Chanel-ish in the 1960's, hippie chic like Farrah Fawcett in the 1970's or love some good satin and big hair like Madonna in the 1980's, this video is definitely worth a watch!

I'd like to point out that this video doesn't cover absolutely every trend from 1915 till today but I think they did a great job covering some key ones. I also enjoy the fact that they show a team doing hair and make up and dressing the model, Very Cool.

Which of the years showcased in the video is your favorite?

Hey Nubians,

Have you guys seen the latest Melanie Martinez music video "Pity Party"?

I love her music and her fun fashion sense, which I sort of think is a reflection of what she shows in her music. Her style is cute as is she, but it's also manages to have a dark, sexy and mysterious flair. It's almost like she's a sweet little twisted Alice in Wonderland in the most fabulous way. She styles herself like a life size doll sometimes with a little retro/vintage touch. You'll always catch her wearing charming dresses with pleats, peter pan collars, ruffles, lace, pink, and more. Plus I'm totally digging the half and half hair she's always been rocking even since I saw her in The Voice. She's consistently changing colors from purple, blonde, blue and more. She's super fun and her music is raw and authentic. Melanie Martinez has won me over and I think she's a great example for girls and young women to be themselves.

I remember when I first started liking her a lot when she was a contestant on The Voice. Seems like ages ago and it's so nice to see her continue going strong with her music and videos. I was so happy when her song got picked up for American Horror Story and to hear of her success with "The Dollhouse EP."

Her new album "Cry Baby" arrives everywhere on August 14th. Check out the first single from the album and it's video "Pity Party". It looks like she had so much fun making it.

"Maybe it's a cruel joke on me
Whatever, whatever
Just means there's way more cake for me
Forever, forever"

This is a song a lot of people may be able to relate too. We've all given ourselves a Pity Party at one point or another.

Hey Nubians,

Always remember you can draw inspiration from anywhere! In this outfit of that day look, you'll see little hints of Egypt and the fierce Cleopatra.

In this little black dress look, the golden triangles on my belt from Zara remind me of ancient Egyptian patterns. The gla.MAR.ous chain headband reminds me of something Cleopatra may have worn herself, royal and beautiful.

Random touches of gold throughout the outfit where also something I focused on.

Toques de oro en el conjunto.

A little leopard never hurt nobody right?

Profile shot. Wavy hair and a touch of little braids. Simple and pretty hair for the Summer season.

Perfil.

Hey Nubians!

Yesterday I was out and about on the Las Vegas Strip enjoying the day. The weather is super nice in Vegas and I was in the mood for a very cute, pastel themed outfit. This outfit is the definition of Kawaii for me. Doughnut earrings from Patty's Closet, ice cream cone socks, pastel Boy Meets Girl x Nordstrom shorts with little ruffles on the sides, Cute clear jelly glitter shoes from GoJane and lastly an adorable top from Pac Sun.

A little vanilla and chocolate ice cream.

Kiss, kiss! Here I was hanging out right by the Wynn Casino and Hotel. They have the cutest little water fall by one of the entrances, not to mention it's gorgeous inside.

¡Beso, beso!

I'm planing to keep my style really vibrant and youthful this summer. I can't wait to share all the looks I put together with you.

What's your go-to look this season?

Cual es tu look preferido esta temporada?

Hey Nubians,

Yesterday I was zoning out on my tablet watching Netflix when I saw 'The Beautician and the Beast' (1997). If you're a late 80's baby like me who grew up watching a lot of television shows in the 90's, I can almost bet at some point...  Fran Drescher was your style icon! I used to love watching 'The Nanny', it was one of my favorite shows. I can still hear it ringing in the back of my ears somewhere Mr. Sheffield yelling "Ms. Fine!".

Being that's it's #ThrowbackThursday and all I wanted to share some of my favorite Fran Drescher looks.

The Beautician and the Beast'  (1997).

I created the collage above from some random photos I found. You know what I love the most about  Fran Drescher's style? The woman has NO FEAR what-so-ever. Sure, I wasn't a fan of absolutely everything she wore, but I was a fan of the majority.

I admire the fact that she always catered to her silhouette and knew how to accessorize. Her style was a mix of trends from the 1950's -1980's. Crazy prints, short skirts, tons of leopard, belly shirts, sequins galore, play suits, and more. Her hair served as an accessory itself, it always looked huge and AMAZING.

(collage above via)

Another thing I adore is that she always looked so sexy without having to bare so much skin.

Anyway I hope you enjoyed this little Flashback, till next time!

Hey Nubians,

It all started on a Friday night with a Gene Simmons Hello Kitty POP Figure and an ice cold beer... Blue Moon to be exact. I checked out a local football game that night for absolutely no reason and saw the home team get smacked up which was pretty sad... Anyways....

Lets Move On To Saturday!

I roamed around the streets of the Las Vegas strip with George and it was a pretty crazy night (at least the parts I could remember). We both purchased Ginormous Fat Tuesday drinks from The Venetian location and man, those things were yummy. I believe it was the 190 Octane, the strongest they have AND the bartender told me the size we purchased has about 10-11 shots in it... not sure how accurate that is but it was strong as hell.

We've been getting in the Halloween spirit for sure lately... I think everyone is and The LINQ has all these cool monsters posted up which are perfection for photo purposes.

I posted this meme on instagram, I thought it was hilarious. So Freddy or Jason?

Here you can see my prom photo pose. Me and my date.

George sold his soul to The Pumpkin King... you know, the usual.

Cool art at the LINQ.

I love this shirt I'm wearing because my Dad purchased it for me a few years back. It's Vintage vibes are what attract me to it and it's very "All American" Denim, patches, stars, red, blue.

I knew I would be out all day so I kept it casual and cute.

Wearing: Vintage top, Vans glasses, H&M shorts, Nike Air Jordan sneakers.

Hiiiiiiiiiiii.

I always enjoy eating at Señor Frogs, I spend almost as much time reading the signs on the ceiling as I do eating.

Close-ups.

What did you guys do over the weekend?

Hello Nubians,

I wanted to share a few photos I instagram'ed within the last few days. I adore fashion, style and looks from the 1950s and 60s. In my opinion back in those days, ladies carried themselves with so much more glamour and class. The hair was better, the dresses were prettier, waists were always cinched and petite, and there was also so much cute shoes! Think about Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Bettie Paige, Brigitte Bardot, Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe and some much more! These ladies = TOTAL BETTIES.

I personally am a fan of mixing the old with the new. There are a lot of current trends that could use a sprinkle of the 1950's/60's on top to make a fun new outfit or look.

Below you'll see some photos of me in the fitting room. The photos are from a class my friend Jasmin (Vintage Vandal) taught about Retro Style and Beauty at Amberjoy's Vintage Closet, a cute shop in downtown Las Vegas. I was a model is Jasmin's class. She demonstrated a few different hairstyles on me such as pincurls, gibson rolls, victory rolls, and showed her students how to do a bumper bang using a foam foundation and much, much more. I'll keep you posted on when she does a recap on the class, it was great.

So much love for polka dots. This dress was a perfect fit.

Fancy tight curls.

Cute pic of my hair in foam rollers.

Love a nice polo shirt with a ravishing circle skirt. The print on the skirt was beautiful.

What's your favorite look or hairstyle from the 1950s or 60s?

Hey Nubians,

It's nice to have weather where you can loosen up a bit. I think the best kind of weather you can wish for is when you're able to wear long sleeves and still show your legs without being cold = PERFECTION.

My friend Jasmin gifted me the vintage top I'm wearing which she got at Buffalo Exchange. Besides the fact that red is my favorite color, I adore the stylish gal on the top... I even have a fringe jacket similar to the one she's wearing! The fringe literally popping out the top makes it that much cooler... a great, unique find. Makes me think of Vintage Vogue.

Wearing: Vintage top from Buffalo Exchange, skirt by Hobbs, Cassette socks by Mossimo, flats by Express.

How rad are these Cassette tops? Retro vibes.

I made a fun short outfit video below. Enjoy and subscribe to my YouTube channel HERE for more.

Hey Nubians,

"Sometimes I just need a good photo to make me want to switch up my style..." -Nubia

Recently I was looking through a lot of William Eggleston photographs and felt really inspired. I like to think of him like a O.G street style photographer. The difference between him and a lot of street style photographers I see now-a-days is Eggleston wasn't looking for someone dressed ridiculously in feathers or outrageous hats and costumes, he wasn't looking for the most amazing landscape views either... he focused more on the beauty of boring things that we don't see many times, things we tend to overlook.

I believe his true talent is taking something that looks like nothing and making it a beautiful photograph.

He captured all sorts of people in very natural and unplanned situations and makes it all come to life. I feel as if all the photos I've posted speak to me... there's a hidden story behind all of these and it makes it fun to look at because I create my own story. It becomes a fun creative exercise.

Eggleston spent over 50 years photographing his town of Memphis, Tennessee.  I've heard Memphis is not the most exciting place ever, but through his eyes I wouldn't mind visiting at all.

Another pretty interesting fact about his photography is a lot of it looks like it could have been taken around the 1920's but it's not. Explore your neighborhood! There are a lot of preserved places and you never know what beautiful treasures you may discover.

I hope you enjoy his photography as much as I do. It has a very retro/vintage vibe and looking at these makes me want to go through my closet and explore my wardrobe. Look up William Eggleston for more intriguing and fascinating photography.
